but the show has completely jumped the shark with Claire.
I agree but you have two power hungry people and as Frank said, there's only 1 chair.
She became a hero telling Petrov off, Frank won Iowa bc of her and the fact that nobody can find any dirt other than the single page that Doug and Frank just destroyed. The path for her to get there is being paved IMO.

But that wouldn't fly in real life. Yes, the biggest gay supporters would be behind her, but anyone who can look at it objectively would realize Claire may have lead to the deaths of hundreds by saying that. It really fricked up everything. It just shows she's an emotional bitch who will not look at things objectively.

Definitely the biggest WTF moment of the whole season

Yeah but it's a TV show, and if they wanted to model it around a similar real life event look at what Hillary Clinton is doing now, and her little Benghazi and email scandal. (I'm not trying to turn this into a political thread, just saying that the show often seems to model some kind of current event and incorporate it into the show)

Easily, that entire scene caught me completely off guard.

But Hillary has been at it longer and has a much more impressive resume than Claire does.

I agree. I may be completely wrong, and I hope I am but it just seems to me that the signs are pointing in that direction.

Definitely underwhelmed with this season now that I am finished. Seems like they spent a lot of time on story lines that ultimately went nowhere.
I wish they would have wrapped up Doug's drama earlier, that took too long to flesh out.
I enjoyed Dunbar vs Frank and Petrov for the most part, I just wish we had gotten a better payoff with Petrov/Russia. They basically used it as an outlet to show the demise of Frank and Claire.
I am not sure how they can play out this Frank vs Claire feud without jumping the shark, especially if they make her a presidential candidate (completely ridiculous).

I was disappointed that a lot of the main characters went away from why I enjoyed them.
Remy getting a conscience?
Frank crying in one scene? Wtf
Claire going bat shite - menapausal?
Doug was the only one that kinda stayed true to his loyal, alcoholic nature...and he was the one with a brain injury

I agree with everyone saying Frank will kill Claire early next season to get the widower sympathy. It's really the only thing that will save his arse. The way they made Claire flip on Frank was too sudden. One chapter of a rough draft for a book was enough to make her give up everything she worked for in her life?

This was definitely the weakest of the 3 seasons, but it was still pretty good.
frick Claire. I get she wants to have power, but whoever made the comparison to Hillary was spot on, imo.
She should just wait her time, especially after the whole UN Ambassador thing failed. Just do 1st lady shite for a few years and then transition in a real position.
She thinks she made Frank president, which she no doubt had a big part in. But I also think she would be nowhere without Frank.

frick Claire.
This. The storyline started sliding when Claire made her statement in Moscow. Now it's just absurd. The writing for HOC is slipping, much like what happened to Mad Men in Season 4.

Just finished the season and thought it drug on a little bit but still awesome, can't wait to see how Frank wiggles his way outta this one

Everyone assumes that Frank will fall but what if he doesn't? What if he wins it all in the end? I'm tired of stories where nice guys finish first. It's a fantasy. People like Frank Underwood win every day. He's powerful, he's ruthless, and he's extremely intelligent. People like that have succeeded throughout history more often than not.
Wait, are you saying Frank isn't a nice guy?
I would suggest you change your name and disappear

Did anyone else notice franks voice changing about halfway through the third season? Sounded like he had a constant sinus infection or something and wasn't near as deep.
A very nitpicky thing, it just bugged me

I liked Claire most when she told Gillian she was willing to let her baby shrivel up and die inside of her or giving a terminal man a brief pity handy (probably hurt like hell with that catheter in) while talking about why she married Frank.
That was good stuff from her. Didn't like her going behind Frank's back to kill that one bill, but then it was some foreshadowing of the Skyler White like tumble she was about to take.
I don't think this season was intentionally setting up the next season, but with the only lasting elements being the characters that left, that may as well ahve never been on Frank's side to begin with, Claire leaving...
Only other change is Doug just has a bad limp.

Hated this season. It felt like a weak attempt at a "West Wing" type of show. With the writer attempting to shift the focus of the book to the Frank and Claire "partnership" and Claire's growing unhappiness, I thought it was setting up for making Claire the VP. Still a possibility I guess, though I doubt it. As the consensus indicates, every plot just went nowhere. If seasons 1 and 2 were a 9 out of 10 for me, this was a 6.

I don't know what west wing you were watching

I've watched the whole series but did it rather quickly, so I'm sure there are some things that didn't quite stick in my memory like they should have.
How did the whole rachel posner storyline begin? I know doug loves her obviously, and he has been (in earlier seasons) moving her around to keep her anonymous, but what role does she have that she needs to be kept quiet?

She originally blackmailed Doug into giving her some money or she would talk
He gave her money and tried to fix her life a little until he needed her to frick Russo as a prosutute again
Then Doug helped her out some more until and started his weird obsession with her until Zoey found her and threatened to expose her past if she didn't talk about Russo. Then Doug sent her further away and at that point it was his paranoia/obsession with her was the reason he was so controlling over her. She would've been forgotten about in that church with the lesbian but his jealous fricked that up

She knows basically everything, although I don't think she has a clue about Zoe's death. She for sure has enough information to know that Doug or Frank murdered Rousseau.
