Thunder has acquired a 2016 protected second round draft pick from the New Orleans Pelicans in exchange for guard Ish Smith.
We also get a protected 2nd pick in 2015

Agreed. Right now the Pels have 9 NBA players, which is much better than the 6 they started the year with. 9 is enough for a good rotation.
Holiday/Cole/Evans
Gordon/Evans/Pondexter
Pondexter/Cunningham/Evans
Davis/Anderson/Cunningham
Asik/Davis
If they are all healthy, no one else would really need to see the floor.

If you consider our top 9:
Jrue,Cole,eg,tyreke,cunningham,qpon,ad,ryno,and asik
You have quality players that should be no worse than the 8th seed.

If they were all healthy I agree. Unfortunately that hasn't been the case, and doesn't look like it will be for the foreseeable future.

based on Pelicans app it looks like we are keeping
Cole, Williams, Hamilton
Cole, Williams, Hamilton

First off: I believe that dude was talking about Marvin Williams when he was addressing shawn haha.
Second: demps dominated today. Salmons for cole? That's a fricking miracle. Cole instantly steps in at backup point and will play some tough minutes. he makes this team a lot better just like coupon and donte.
Well done, demps.

Is that team better than any team in front of us outside of PHX

Abso-flocking-lutely! Cole is a quality player. The fact we added him for Salmons is amazing. We don't have the ability to sign big name free agents right now, but the additions of Cunningham, QPon and now Cole are small moves that have made a big difference for this team.

They're also trying to establish a culture with these types of guys.
Vets who work hard and act the right way.

With a legitimate coach? Yes.

That runs an actual offense

So we went from a train wreck at SF and "young vets" to solid defensive SFs and "winning vets"
i'll take it.
i'll take it.

Yep and an actual NBA back up point guard
Start of the year it was the top 6 and next to no depth,3 months later they've added cunningham,Q-pon and cole/2nd rounder for the cost of rivers/salmons and a guy named russ smith.
Top 6
Cole
Q-Pon
cunningham
ajinca
is much better compared to:

babbitt/salmons/etc

Also don't discount the fact that Cole has contributed on teams that went to four straight finals (I realize he's not the reason they made it there but still). Having some one on the team that knows what it takes to get to the playoffs and be successful there will help us down the road.

If he could average 6/2/3 in ~15-20 minutes while shooting 45/35/70.
That's already better offensively than anything else we had. He's a defensive minded PG and outside of Jrue, none of our guards can defend the better PGs in this league. EG is very solid defensively, but he's just not gonna keep up with the Westbrooks and CP3s every night.

Yeah he's definitely capable of averaging that and more
Something like his 2013 season: 6.4 PPG 3.0 asts 2.0 rebounds 1 steal while shooting 42/34.5/78 would be great.

So what do all these trades do to our cap situation at the end of the season?
Posted on 2/20/15 at 7:52 am to WeeWee
Why are we buying out Shawne?
He seems like someone who could play and contribute, and every you read it says he'll get picked up quickly.
