I know we are talking about the 76er's here, and there MO is assets, but if MCW was a true difference maker or had the potential to be I doubt they trade him. they obviously felt he wasn't good enough to be a part of their long term plan.

I think MCW was in Philly for to long and it was just time for him to go

MCW's going to boom or bust. If he can't develop a shot he's nothing more than a backup or fringe starter. If he can develop a shot, he'll be pretty damn good. Getting Kidd as his coach is probably the best thing that could happen to him.

Rondo cant shoot that well, does that mean he sucks too?

Agreed but it seems like we've seen this movie a million times. Most of the time, the shot never comes and they end up like Aminu.

Wow thanks tor that quick history lesson. Here's another: kidd was 6'4 and light years better than MCW is now. He isn't exactly the "tall guard mentor" you expect him to be. MCW is decent but a downgrade from Brandon knight.
quote:while watching baskeball outside of the Pelicans this year I watched brandon knight tear it up with the bucks. He's the biggest reason why they're 30-23 right now. He's easily the second best player in the trade behind dragic. The Bucks downgraded by going with MCW.
obviously you don't watch basketball outside the pelicans

because i do not agree with your opinion?

I wonder if they felt they got too good to fast and wanted to get younger (and worse in the short term) to take pressure to win off. Although it seems a little to late to dial back expectations.

Yea, i really don't understand this trade from their perspective.
ETA: Is Kidd pulling the strings as far as personel?

Knight at least was very competent from 3: 38 and 36.7% in his first 2 years versus the 25% MCW is averaging. Knight is hitting 40% this year.
Knight also took 4 less shot attempts(11 versus 15)
MCW is a mid 60s FT shooter while knight is nearly 90 this year and 76% for his career.

I don't know, but I do know that Kidd wanted to significantly remake the Nets roster and skew it towards defense.

Short term, yes. Long term, with Jabari coming back ,I'm not so sure. Plus they didn't want to give Knight the $50M+ he will want and get. They get a lesser player, but they get a couple more years of rookie control in MCW and Ennis. I think Knight fits better in PHX anyway,
Posted on 2/20/15 at 4:59 pm to TigerinATL
Yea, I think him wanting more personnel control was the reason he wanted out of BK.

How does knight fit better in phx? Him and Bledsoe are both ball dominant point guards that will have to coexist in the backcourt together. I'm not sure how that will workout and I could see it developing into more interal problems. They could have the dragic situation all over again. I just don't see it working out.

Well there's only 2 of them now. Dragic/Bledsoe (when healthy) was pretty good last year. Signing Thomas seemed to screw it up. Aside from Markieff, who else needs touches on that team?
With Bledsoe on, you can scheme ways to get him shots without having him pound the ball for most of the shot clock.

I don't remember who said it, but I recall hearing that Knight is a natural 2 guard.

I agree with that. He's a 2 in a pgs body.
