The Advocate had a short article on LSU's #2 ranked gymnastic victory over #9 Auburn on page 9 in Saturday's edition. Yet , there was a large photo on the front page for opening day of baseball, a huge article on page 1 of the sports page and several photos related to the baseball team's win over unranked Kansas. This was a relatively meaningless baseball game in a 56 game baseball schedule.

It seems the Advocate has fallen prey to the almost cult like following of this baseball program. Don't get me wrong, I support any team in any sport wearing the purple and gold and representing LSU. But it gets a bit ridiculous to see the 128 days until baseball countdown, and the continuous commentary about WALK UP SONGS!!! And lets not forget the inane commentary about visitors showers, the batting gloves, 20 posts about what channel the game can be viewed on, and the endless Fire Javi comments.

The gymnastics program has been to the Super Six multiple times this decade and knocked on the door to the national championship room last year. This year they have a very realistic chance to kick that door in.

This team is a classy group of athletes with incredible skills who always represent LSU in the best possible way. They deserve better than the Advocate presented yesterday.

There's almost zero chance the paper sent anybody to cover a road meet so they probably just summed up the article of LSUsports.

Oh my. It's open weekend of Lsu baseball which means way more than even basketball down here and you are complaining about that?

It's basically like putting a fat girl on cover of GQ. That's what you wanted. A fat girl

Upvote. LSU gymnastics deserves more coverage because the readership interest is there. An average of 5,633 fans attended each LSU home meet in the 2014 season which makes it worthy of more coverage. Men's basketball by comparison is 8910. And it's getting more popular by the day at LSU based on how ridiculously talented the team is and how fun the meets are.

Things most people in LA care about - baseball and football

Things most people in LA don't give a shite about - your feelings and gymnastics

This might be one of the most delusional post of 2015 and on TD that is saying a lot. Congrats.

So you're wanting the advocate and TD to dedicate more prime space to a sport that doesn't draw that much interest?

Both are businesses and need to generate dollars to stay open so they are going to give the most attention to the sports that draw readers.

Not hard to understand.

It's great LSU has a great gymnastics program, but let's not act like it's a sport that is going to draw a lot of attention no matter what.

If you want to "win" this thread you need to post some action shots of the meets. Start with Reagan Courville on a dismount.

Very few people care about gymnastics.

It's crazy to expect gymnastics to get the same attention as baseball.

In other words...that meaningless baseball game was still MUCH more important than the gymnastics event.

This may come as a surprise to you, but baseball is more popular than gymnastics, and newspapers try to print stories and headlines that will be popular.

The only time people care somewhat about gymnastics is for a week every 4 years during the Olympics. Sorry but that's reality.

This thread would've gone a whole lot better for you if you posted pictures of the gymnasts.

Sorry but the paper is not going to send someone to cover a road gymnastics meet. The only story they are going to print will be the release from LSU.
