Only mentioning this bc this guy is a huge LSU fan, but Brandon McCarthy - who just signed a 4 year contract with the Dodgers.
Met him on a LSU Baseball message board back in 2001 or 2002. He was pitching in JUCO and wanted to pitch for LSU, and I connected him with a friend of mine who was playing at the time.
He is a great guy, super witty and cerebral. Real mature for his age, I remember. Smoke Laval told him that his rotation was set, so he signed with the White Sox. Crashed at my house a couple times and we came down for games.
We brought a group of our Little League kids to a Rangers game a few years ago, when he was pitching for Oakland - and he signed a few balls and made a big impression.
Rarely talk to him these days, but he is known as one of the best Twitter personalities in MLB. He claims to have eaten 70 chicken McNuggets in one sitting.
Anyway, not as glorious as knowing a porn star, but worth sharing...

Grew up around Johnny Manziel. Johnny is the same age as my brother and played football and baseball with him from 3rd-7th grade. He was a good athlete back then but I would say that he was probably the 4th-5th best player on that team. Fred Ross from Mississippi State was also on that team.

Scottie Pippen
His family and my family were close. His cousin got me my first job while in school.
Haven't spoken to him in some time though.

Was very good friends in college with a guy who now hosts a reality tv show on the sci-fi network. We lost contact for a few years between college and business success for him. Strange to see cause you can get the change/evolution of the person but still struggle to reconcile it with the person you remember on some levels. We're friends on social media but don't converse much.

Was neighbor's in college with Zac Brown. We hung out all the time in college, played NBA Jam late night while tripping, he would play mini concerts in my front yard all the time. I was leaving his house one day and he said "help me finish this lyric". My response was "man, i'm not good at that shite" and walked out.

Why is the OT so obsessed with knowing/having known or met/living near/being on an airplane with famous people?
Posted on 2/10/15 at 6:36 pm to Paige
