I don't understand the fascination with this. I have no desire to sit on uneven ground at an uncomfortable angle with nowhere to put things like drinks and have kids fall over me for every fly ball.
berms these days arent just hills. They have rows built into them just like bleachers.
but instead of just having a seat you can put your own chairs, tents, etc.
All of these people at Ole Miss are sitting on level ground, they're not at a slant.

Im jealous of ole miss' berm setup

I'm with Bbap, the swine have a great berm setup. There are first come first served bleachers and then an open area for folding chairs. They have grills and tables to use behind the bleachers and allow coolers and portable grills. You can bring in any non-glass container. You can access the main stadium from this area to access concessions. It's a great setup for GA tickets. The Box with this setup would be great!!!

They need to extend the grandstand all the way to the foul poles like at Arkansas. Suites, chairbacks, everything just like it is in the grandstand area.
I don't know if we need suites all the way, but chairbacks to match the grandstand would look so much better.

You used present tense for some reason. "Based on funding"

Looks nice but if it's designed by the same company who designed TD Ameritrade...be careful.
They really screwed the pooch on that one. Looks good but plays horrible!

quote:totally agree with the attraction to ole miss' setup. very cool. not exactly what i would call a berm though. it's pretty much unique. it would be nice for lsu to come up with something unique for the students.

ucf is adding a beach area to their football grandstands. that's the kind of thing i'm talking about. not just copying ole miss.

Whether or not our fans are willing to admit, Ole Miss and Mississippi State have a much better fan experience at their stadiums than we do. These things can be developed organically like at Miss St or it can be created purposefully like at Ole Miss. It's time for LSU to make something similar. There's not a lot of space left, but there's enough.
I love LSU baseball, but our fans/athletic dept would rather be the "knowledgable"/snobby fan, than the fun, rowdy fan at baseball.
Stony Brook laps > outfield berm

Arkansas really has no signature entrance at all. The box looks a lot nicer from the outside than Arkansas. Same with South Carolina.
Yep, the outside is very well done. The inside is nice, but could have been done so much better. Arkansas is much better, Ole Miss and Carolina are very good, and If Moo State's turns out half as good as the images, it will be the new bench mark.

Personally I wouldn't call what Ole Miss has a berm. I consider a berm more of what they have a Zephyr Field.
But the biggest issue I can bet with putting something like that in the OF at LSU is that they won't be able to sell season tickets for something like that.

oh i dont think there is any question that is why LSU didnt go that route and probably never will.
It unfortunate though.

They need to create a staircase-styled "berm" between the RF bleachers and the batter's eye. It doesn't have to be huge like Ole Miss's but it'll be more than big enough.
The Athletic Dept will be able to sell more GA tickets, move student tickets to new berm area, sell old student bleacher seats to season ticket holders on wait list. This will increase the number of season ticket holders, increase the maximum capacity of tBox, and create a better fan experience/atmosphere as a whole.
Win/win/win.

Of course that would be very expensive.
That and extend the upper concourse to the foul poles.

I don't know why it hasn't happened yet. It would not be a large project as far as time or money goes. The available space is there and the infrastructure is minimal. The project wouldn't take more than an offseason and would not impact practices.
The move would only increase the baseball revenues from the box with more season tickets which they are most concerned about, more concession sales due to an increase in attendants, and a better fan atmosphere which only betters the prominence of tBox.
The only obstacle I could foresee at the moment is a hesitance to take away physical seats from students.
I'm my opinion from when I was in school and my friends that are still in school is that the majority would rather sit out in a berm like that where it's more communal and open spaced.
