Like daily? How long did it take before you started hating your job due to that? Is it worth a 40% pay bump to take a job requiring that (assuming you won't relocate closer to said job)?

I drove 110 miles every day for almost 7 years. I didn't mind it at all as it was mostly interstate and I was going the opposite direction of all the traffic.
If your stuck in traffic the whole time that's a big dofference.

If you made $50K a year before, a 40% pay increase means you will make $70K now. That's a big jump. Definitely worth the drive.

6 months to be sick of drive. Like the job still

Yes. Just have to be more time efficient.

He hits traffic on the way back. They changed post times this year so he leaves later and the traffic s slightly better. Takes him forever to get from gentile to the spillway.

This is almost exactly what my situation would be if I got this job and accepted the offer. The thing I can't get past is being able to run home for lunch or errands at lunch that are only applicable to where I live.

I've done it 3 times a week for several years now. I complain about it in my head from time to time, but it's worth it to live where you want to live. You have to go where the money is, and honestly you get used to it after a while. Howard Stern Show and Audible.com help ALOT.

I drove 100 miles one way daily for years. it gets old real quick. Half of that distance could have been ok.

I did it for a year when I lived outside of Anchorage. The commute sucked but I loved living where I did at the time. It was worth it.

I live near Shenandoah and work near College/Perkins so it's basically 45-60 mile commute (at least time-wise). I can't stand it.

I always worked away from home so I didn't know what I was missing. Now I live 3 miles from the office and I go home every day.
However, the hour long drive allowed me time to game plan for the day in my head, and also allowed me to relax on the way home. My office and area were so far away, I could feel like I was really leaving work behind in the afternoons.
I also have a company vehicle and they paid my fuel costs. That was a negative I didn't have to deal with personally.
ETA I passed a Walmart, CVS/Walgreens, gas stations, or anything else I would've needed in the town where I worked. Most of the time I passed them a few times a day. Allowed me to run errands on my way to or from the office.

Nope, but 5 miles feels like 50 when the bridge is shut down
