The non Union plant workers do benefit. Union plants set the pattern for pay and benefits forcing even the non Union plants to keep up with them in order to retain employees.

This is certainly true. Operator pay at non-union plants has been bumped up in response to losing employees, especially the last few years with the expansion of operator positions in the area.

Any word from local ops? It seems to have been pretty quiet since the first round of plants went on strike.

I know they resumed talks today, but that's all I've heard.

The union looks like a bitch right now IMO. They're just fricking over 9 plants right now really. They should have just pulled everybody off line from jump street.

Yea they resumed on 2/10. USW requested information from Shell and in guessing it took all weekend & Monday for them to get it. From what I'm hearing it that they are making progress but the Union is pushing for the O&G companies to adapt the API 755 rule. The plants that are on strike are the ones who haven't adopted the standard yet and USW is wanting them to. I believe money and benefits are agreed upon already. Also the facilities that are striking didn't have a tentative agreement at their local unions either.
Hopefully it'll all end soon and everyone can go back to work and keep on keeping on.

Deer Park is a Shell site and they have a fatigue policy, so this isn't true.

Having a fatigue policy and adopting to the API 755 is not the same thing.

Shell already had the fatigue policy in place.

Deer Park had a local contract done already.

Deer Park follows API 755. How many times do you need to be wrong and corrected before you stop spewing shite in this thread you obviously know nothing about?

Shell has a fatigue policy. It is called API 755. It is system wide in the North Americas for Shell. For Shell it is the same thing.

I agree. I work for them. Shell Geismar doesn't abide by it bc they are non union.

If you only knew. Geismar will be in a different state if they continue on the path that they are on. The "Geismar Way" is slowly being taken away out from under your noses.
