I, like many fathers of daughters, watch Frozen almost every goddamn day. And because of that, I have come to have a few thoughts on Frozen.

- Where the frick are Kristoff's parents? We see him as a kid in the opening scene collecting ice with a bunch of grown men. Who were these men? Was one of these men his Dad? Did his Dad just leave him in the fricking wilderness to die of cold and starvation? And if one of those guys was not his Dad, why the frick did they just leave a small child in the middle of the wilderness to die?

- Why couldn't Elsa just wear gloves all the time..? If that prevented her from shooting everyone with ice spikes, wouldn't that have been a better solution than to just lock her up in her room for 10 years?

- How the frick do you make a dress out of ice?

- What was Elsa going to eat up there in her ice castle? Can't really grow crops on top of a mountain.

- Were all of Arendelle's tradable goods blankets and soup?

- Elsa was a lesbian, right?

It didn't. It just helped some.

Look sexy and sing. She had snow monsters to bring her any food she needed.

I love it when people question the believability of fantasy movies.

Like the people who ask why light sabers only open up to a certain point, then try to figure out the reason why.

Obviously, Kristoff's parents weren't around. He is an orphan. That's why he is basically besties with Sven, the reindeer. That's his only relationship.

The grown men he's hanging around are the ice harvesters. You are just supposed to accept that ice harvesting is a trade in Arendelle and Kristoff has picked this up as his life's work.

She has worn the gloves her entire childhood, remember? Her father gives her the gloves when she's a little girl and he says something like "conceal, don't feel" right? I think keeping the girls separated like that is a drastic measure, but it adds to the drama of the story.

Her dress isn't made of ice. It's just blue and white to conotate ice.

Good question...but I don't think she was up there long enough to make that a big deal in the movie. Maybe only days until Anna, Kristoff and Olaf find her.

- Were all of Arendelle's tradable goods blankets and soup?
I don't get this question...is this because Hans gives blankets and soup to Arendelle's residents?
quote:

- Elsa was a lesbian, right?
I don't think she was a lesbian, but I have read where some think the story is a feminist narrative.

That help?

I don't get the lesbian stuff some people have come up with for Elsa.

IMO she is the one in the movie that has her head right about love b/c she realizes its idiotic to fall for a person you barely know.

I wondered about the possibility of massive flooding destroying Arendelle after Elsa melted everything back to normal.

I know Elsa wanted Anna and her new beau/reindeer/magically-living-childhood-snowman all to leave her alone, but having her snow monster try to murder them all seemed a bit extreme.

Hans leaving Anna to freeze to death seemed a little dark for kids' movie.

It's a Disney movie, his parents are both dead after they fell through the ice of their backyard pond. Kristoff made a promise that he would be master of ice as he stared at his dead parents through the ice of their pond tomb. The ice loggers lost him because they are ice blockers. You fend for yourself if you are out on the ice.

Because sad feelings, that's why. Disney can't try to match the sadness levels of the first 10 minutes of UP if Elsa and Anna are playing all the damn time. Also, "Do You Wanna Build a Snowman" would be two lines long...

Do You Wanna Build a Snowman?
Yes.

End of Song.

quote:

How the frick do you make a dress out of ice?

A layer of ice over her not ice Queen dress could explain this. Better question is how the hell does it not stiffen and shatter? Think Anna's dress at the Sauna House.

quote:

What was Elsa going to eat up there in her ice castle? Can't really grow crops on top of a mountain.

She secretly takes on a job building igloos for a secluded ice mountain town. Her work is so admired, that she is hailed, also frozen, as a goddess. The people of this town send servants to her to make runs to the village for food and quite possibly for her to use as ice spike practice.

quote:

Were all of Arendelle's tradable goods blankets and soup?

Arendelle is broke. They used to rely on the magic trolls to create wealth for them with enchanted goods and magic relics. After the previuos king, the current king's father, started selling them into slavery as pet rocks, the trolls escaped and withdrew into seclusion. (They saved Anna as an act of kindness to the current king who secretly helped the enslaved Trolls escape) The King had to risk the sea voyage to attend a royal wealth creation seminar to save Arendelle from bankruptcy. He, the Queen, and their newborn son were shipwrecked and were stranded in a remote jungle. They were tragically killed by a jaguar, though the girls brother was luckily saved by a gorilla who raised him. This is their last known picture before returning to Arendelle...

quote:

Elsa was a lesbian, right?

Asexual. She took "conceal, don't feel" to the extreme.

This is what I do when my 3 year old wants to rewatch a movie 2573 times to avoid going actively insane.

It's been a while since I've seen the movie so I forget their names, but the chick who they got the brunette sister in Once Upon a Time's real life Frozen interpretation is a dime.

No pics because I don't know how to embed, so google it yourself.
