Anyone else have a good feeling about this season?

Sure Steele is a little bit of a letdown at DC, but we got Orgeron and only have 3 players going to the draft with 6 staying.

I'm with you. In terms of player development on defense:
D-line: Orgeron > Brick
LB: Steele > Chavis
DB: Solid as always with Raymond
The jury is still out on Steele as our DC, but I think he'll do fine with the talent he has to work with. Everyone who's coming back will really help us out.

At the moment, Steele is not the issue if LSU's run defense (hold opponents under 100 yds. per game) and pass rush improves. This season will come down to QB play.
It was embrassing to watch Ohio State play with two backup quarterbacks and win their conference championship and the NCAA Championship. When Jennings and Harris were both recruited, the fanbase was elated because we all thought the Jefferson and Lee days were over. The U started a freshmen QB the whole year, although he plays in the ACC, the kid stats (completed 58% passes, 3,198 passing yards, 26 TDs and 12 Ints.) were better than AJ's.
Coach Cameron has to coach up our QBs. Remember years ago, former Coaches Saban and Fisher played J. Russell because he had the most potential and the arm to facilitate all the passes, unlike M. Flynn, although Flynn knew the playbook. Coach Miles is too stubborn, just like the championship game against BAMA by sticking with Jefferson throughout the whole game when he was so nervous and ineffective.
I would suggest the following, if neither QB plays well in the Spring Game, and Miller or Golston have not enrolled into another university, then those guys need to be on 'Speed Dial' for immediate help.

Agreed, that's the big question mark going into spring practice. It almost has to get better by default, but I'm really hoping Harris breaks out and makes himself the clear choice as the starter. If we can fix our QB play, we could be in for a special season.

Pass rush makes the defense. 2003 & 2007 bcs titles Lsu defense was simple blitz blitz blitz blitz. I would love to see a pass rush next season, havent seen one since 2011.

Mett hadn't played all year and wasn't ready at all and you really couldn't put Lee in against a pass rush like that. Miles has shown in the past that if he has someone that is a better option he goes with them. Don't really see the comparison to the current QB situation.

Tbh, I believe the Tigers will do real well this season.

Boxcar I agree to an extent, but if LSU had the exact QB play in 14 as 11, LSU is winning 10 or 11 games in 14. Just my opinion. But 2015 doesn't have much to do with 2014, so I will be optimistic.

I feel good about LSUs defense going into next season, better than I have the last couple of years. scary thing is I felt the same when we acquired Chavis.... then after awhile was disenchanted with the defense he put on the field. I DO feel coach O is more of an in your face gameday motivator and, on defense, that will yield better results than sitting on your arse watching from above in the climate controlled box type motivator.

Mostly agree ('cept I think Steele was a huge letdown as DC. If you go back and look at Chicken's list, Steele would likely be near the very bottom. IMHO, Steele is being given a trial run at DC. If he succeeds, all is well. If not, I think Les will retain him at LB's coach and look for another DC once the additional coaching pos is allowed. Would be an incredible staff on D.).
I digress; I would also point out that the '15 schedule sets up pretty good for us.
As a bazillion others have noted, someone really needs to light a fire under Brandon's backside. The door is wide open at QB; he's got a lot of raw-QB talent. If we could get his full talent utilized on O we could really rock in '15.

To me Miles has been getting worse since the jj debacle in the 2011 ncg. He has to prove he still can coach. 8-5, I just see him sticking with Jennings no matter what Harris does imo. Make or break year for Les.

This season will come down to QB play.
Even running more "Jet Sweep" stuff like we saw against A+M wont help much in the SEC. We'll have to find somebody that can throw it or there will be no SECW, SEC or NC's.........

Well, thanks for ruining all hope before spring practice even starts. Any time our season depends on QB play, we can just forget it.

Those days are over. Above .500 in the SEC is the dream now.

Put it this way.... Most of us feel a lot better about 2015 than we did 2 weeks ago.
