Can't identify who in this thread is serious or trolling.

Do you know which divisions moved into this facility?

don't think it matters. BHI has a nice facility for LWD in Broussard which is pretty new. Plus you should see the shite hole in Cade BHI calls a motor shop and it has been turning out the finest motors in the GOM for years there.

So for almost a decade these kats have been riding high on high gas prices and suddenly they can't afford another year or two of paying these guys?

Where did they put the money? They weren't planning on prices ever going down? Execs must of spent most of it on hookers and blow.

The same could be said of the now unemployed. O&G pays/paid retarded money.

In an attempt to refocus the thread....

Yes, the precipitous drop in oil prices sucks for LA, TX and the like. We may have up to 50k job losses resulting from the oil price drop in the US. But it is also a boon for manufacturing, transport companies, airlines, retail, and the like. These industries are more broadly distributed throughout the country and employ more people. All in all, the US is still a net importer of energy, so this will be a net positive for the economy as a whole.

This doesn't diminish the pain in oil-states, but they have made efforts to diversify since the 80's, so it won't be as bad as back then IMHO.

Let's not forget the 300 to 500 million dollar hole this puts in the State budget. Severance taxes on oil drop as the price drops.

That's part of what I meant with

This is true in every state that has a dominant industry as part of their economy. Tourist economies suffered heavily after terrorist attacks, for example.

You must not be familiar with how Halliburton operates . Their facilities will never be as elaborate, as nice, even as adequate as SLB and BHI. Just enough to get the work done. You should have seen some of the facilities they were operating out of before. But they also aren't as quick to announce big cuts in personnel like SLB is doing. Not that they won't here, but I remember certain divisions of SLB packing up shop during the oil spill. Halliburton and BHI waited it out and it paid off when the Gulf came back stronger than before. Plus BHI has that nice facility right off 90 in Broussard. Won't take much money to paint that red

Odd thread. Came here to read about oilfield jobs and found Paige looking for attention and $500 from the Money Talk board. Last time I checked OT ballers had more money than MT folks.
