Bump just because it needs another ride down page one.
And my number growing up was Sherwood Forest Country Club #63. My father was a charter member in the early 60's and I as well as my wife, we're members as young adults. A wonderful place to be. A long time ago.
Getting old sucks. But the popcorn machine in the men's grill will forever be in my memory.

How about putting a top golf there?
I have heard any manner of ridiculous and stupid crap on the OT. This isn't one of those. That is actually a legit idea.

Doesn't sound like a great investment.

Yeah .. There won't be an episode of American Greed eventually dedicated to this at all !

If I lived in Baton Rouge, i'd go to the meeting just to see this train wreck in action. Feel bad for the people who were dumb enough to put money into this disaster.

Baton Rouge having a top golf sounds like a legit idea to you?

this is the second time they have tried to gather investors
Sounds like they want donors ....not investors...investors get the possibility of a return or some tangible benefit.

Just got this email a few minutes ago: Ladies and Gentlemen, If you haven’t heard about the buzz about the opportunity for the Oaks at Sherwood Golf Course to open back up let me be the first to tell you. I recently approached the new owners with their interest in opening up the golf course and they were very enthusiastic about keeping the property a green space. We have come to an agreement that we (potential inverstors) will raise the money to fix the golf course and get it back in playing condition. We have quotes to fix the golf course and get it back into playing condition for $300,000. We would like another $200,000 in operating expenses. $500,000 total is our goal! Currently we have 20% of our goal and this is just by word of mouth. We need your commitment of $5000 or more to reach our goal. We are looking for a total of 100 investors. Anything more than 100 investors will go towards course improvements or operating expenses. If you are interested in investing please reply to this email or call me with your information. Right now all I need is your pledge to commit. We will be collecting money as soon as we reach our goal. Please don’t sit on this email. We need a response ASAP so that we can get back to the owners and let them know we are serious about this golf course. This is our chance to get back the course that many of us have missed in the past year and a half. We should not just sit by and think that someone else is going to swoop in and save the course. It is our job to do it. We let it slip by once before and I know a lot of us are kicking ourselves for it. Also, if you can’t be an investor please reply back if you are interested in becoming a member of the course. We will have a meet and greet with the owners at the club house on Wednesday the 21st at 6:30pm. Hopefully during this meeting we can answer all questions that you have about the course. I will be the first to tell you that we don’t have all of the answers but we are willing to give you all of the info that we have. I urge you to come to show the owners our interest in reviving this course even if you can’t become an investor. During this time you can give me your information if you want to be an investor. I will send out a reminder the day before and the day of the meet and greet. Below is the Frequently asked question about the course. If you have any questions or comments please don’t hesitate to ask. Thanks, Hien (Hen) Nguyen 225-266-5486 FAQ: Why do you think we will have a better chance at the club staying open this time? Looking at the past numbers we found that if we didn’t have the loan debt of $17,000 per month the club would have been in position to prosper. Now we have an agreement in place to only take true profits to pay the owners of the land. Simple point is that we don’t have a huge debt to worry about anymore. When is the expected opening date? June 1st, 2015. Will I get my money that I invested back? There is a slim chance that you can get your money back if the course is successful. After the first year we will have predetermined percentages for the property owner, investors and golf course maintenance. So, it is really up to us to make this course successful. Does my investment include membership? It does not include membership. It is an investment in opening up the golf course. I don’t have $5000 to invest but I want to help. What can I do? We need you to help us spread the word of getting investors or businesses involved. You may be able to get your friends to pool your resources to reach $5000. Or you might just make a small donation to the cause. Every bit helps. What are the membership fees? To be decided, but we do expect it to be around the same as before. Will the course be private? We will open the course with a mix of private and open to the public. What about the irrigation? Our initial goal is to get the irrigation back to its previous state of operation. If we turn a good profit we will look into automating the irrigation. What about food and beverage? The new owners will be running the food and beverage. This means that the only thing we have to focus on is golf. Is there anything else we can do to help? Yes. We need you to spread the word about the course. Also, we are looking for volunteer work to help with the business side of the golf course. We need lawyers, accountants, and laborers. If you can help please contact us. Will it be called the Oaks at Sherwood? The new name will be The Legacy

Hien Nguyen should stick to manicures, pedicures, and happy endings....not ponzi solicitations.

It's not really a Ponzi scheme. Ponzi schemes promise returns

Well at least we know we've got some equal opportunity racist morons around here.

Should really change the title of this from "investor". With basically no chance of even recouping your initial investment this is far more a charity case than any form of investment opportunity
Posted on 1/15/15 at 8:27 am to Croacka
Open a golf course? Why would an investor willingly want to lose money?
