It almost makes the Steele hire a good one (ALMOST). You can at least see the thought process here. Miles went all in on recruiting over scheme. He just signed two of the best recruiters in the nation. This is about talent acquisition. It's not like Chavis ran the most complex scheme anyway

and recruiting is 10x more important on defense than offense imo.
if your D is loaded with studs, you can out athlete people
whereas, you can scheme on offense with less talent and beat people
