pretty close, liquid enough that if I wanted to flee to Thailand or somewhere I could be pretty quickly

One of my best days ever was the day I satisfied the mortgage on my house. It's amazing how much extra money you have without a house note or rent.

Monthly bills and daughter's incidentals in college.
Downsized into a townhouse and lived off 1 salary while banking the other. Paid off both cars and townhouse with sale of old house. Cannot tell you how freeing no mortgage or car note is.

My wife and I will be this year when we finish paying off our home. We will not owe a single person any money. CAN'T WAIT!!!
