After having its eight-game-winning streak snapped on Thursday, LSU looks to get back on track when it hosts Georgia in an SEC contest on Saturday night.
The Tigers managed only two points in overtime while dropping their conference opener against Missouri 74-67. LSU continues to battle sloppy play as it ranks last in the SEC in turnovers, averaging more than 15 per game, and had 19 more miscues on Thursday.
The Bulldogs also lost their conference opener, blowing a 13-point first-half lead before dropping a 79-75 decision at home to Arkansas. Nemanja Djurisic led Georgia with 16 points but the loss ended the Bulldogs' six-game winning streak -- their longest in four years.
Georgia wrapped up a promising non-conference campaign with a 9-3 mark, its best since 2010-2011 when the Bulldogs went 11-2 en route to gaining their last NCAA tournament berth.
TV: 9 p.m. ET, ESPNU
ABOUT GEORGIA (9-4, 0-1 SEC): Georgia swept the season series last season including a 69-61 victory in the regular-season finale which ended LSU's seven-game winning streak at home. Battling a nagging shoulder injury, Kenny Gaines, who led the Bulldogs in scoring in SEC action last season, is fourth on the team in scoring at 11.2 points with 18 makes from 3-point range. Reserve forward Kenny Paul Geno (1.9 points, 1.2 rebounds) is out with a broken left wrist.
ABOUT LSU (11-3, 0-1): LSU outrebounded Missouri 50-39 but shot just 36.4 percent from the field and blew an eight-point lead late in the second half in its conference-opening loss. Tim Quarterman had 19 points and Jordan Mickey grabbed 17 rebounds in the contest, although the bigger front line of Mickey and Jarell Martin hit just 7-of-23 shots against their undersized opponents. LSU owns an impressive win over then-17th ranked West Virginia but the Tigers aren't deep with five players averaging 30 minutes a game.
TIP-INS
Two of Georgia's four losses have come to ranked teams (Gonzaga, Arkansas).
Both teams received votes in last week's USA Today Coaches poll.
LSU has won five of the last six home games against Georgia.
PREDICTION: LSU 74, Georgia 71

Hopefully we take care of the basketball, way less than 19 turnovers tonight.
It's time to ball.

Now why couldn't we do that last game with 4 seconds left at the end of the game.

I'm sorry this LSU team is not that impressive. Could very well lose to Georgia at home and start 0-2. I'm not excited.

Gray choking this game away on offense and defense

They're just not a polished team. Lots of talent though.

This is ridiculous. This team is not well disciplined or well coached. Going to do well to improve any at all over last years mediocre performance. Gotta learn how to put these also ran teams away.

I didn't know that it was legal to cut someone's legs out from under them on a layup.

fricking build up momentum and a decent RPI, and then SEC play starts and LSU wants to start fricking up
