Why does everyone just ignore what happened in the first 53 minutes of the game?

In the first quarter, the Detroit punter lands on a Dallas player and gets a call that keep the drive going. Not a terrible call by any stretch, but one they let go at least half the time and eventually led to seven points.
On the same drive, a blatant hold allowed Bush to get the edge on his touchdown run yet went uncalled.
Also in the first quarter, a blatant hands to the face during a Romo sack goes uncalled and a drive ends.
In the second quarter, Calvin Johnson got away with a significant push off on a third down reception on a drive that resulted in a FG
In the third quarter, Dallas had a TD taken away on a very weak Jason Witten holding call. Now they eventually scored, but they needed four downs to do it. That could have easily resulted in a seven point swing.
If the refs were in play for Dallas, how does one explain these things which resulted in Dallas needing to make a pretty significant come back?

quote:You missed the worst call of the game. When they called Terrance Williams for PI when the Detroit player freaking pushed him on his route taking away a huge 1st down and making it 3rd and 15. Difference is cowboys werent pussies and they scored a TD on the next play. Detroit had the opportunity to not be pussies and convert the 4th and 1. They punted instead because of JIM

Your team won a playoff game. Why do you care?

I'm just genuinely curious, this happens every time a game is decided on a questionable call. People just forget about everything that led up to that point.
You can just as easily argue that when the PI flag pickup occurred, Dallas should have been up something like 20-10 if not for past calls/non-calls.

It always happens. It's the same reason why player x gets roasted for a fumble in the fourth quarter while player y gets off for dropping a TD in the first quarter.

Pettigrew immediately let go. It's NOT a foul if the player immediately lets go and doesn't affect the flow of the game.

The Detroit player was blocked into the punter watch it again

Don't feed into tge bs. Cowboys won. Lions got beg edits before kickoff with Suh being allowed to play.
I'm on record with being cool with that call, but how much should they get.
They got beat and can't handle it. This crew was questionable throughout the night, not just this call. It was fairly called.
Lions lost
Boo hoo

I'm having trouble scoring the melts, reverse-melts, and double reverse-melts, tbh.
Guess I'll check the official melt box score in the morning paper

Why does everyone just ignore what happened in the first 53 minutes of the game?
1) Because people are prisoner of the moment
2) Because people hate the Cowboys and now they can't talk shite about Romo (not as if they had any reason to in the first place)

This is how all of sports is. It also includes forgetting what happens for the first 75% of the season. The MVP, for example, is largely won or lost in the final month of the season. The first 3 quarters of the season are significantly underweighted in MVP voting. Adrian Peterson won the MVP in 2012 on a single game - the final game of the season. The award was Manning's up to that point. One game out of 16 should never carry that much weight but it does. People are, by and large, stupid and have terrible long-term memories and perspective. It is human nature.

He ran for all 2,097 yards in one game?!
I love Peyton Manning, but Peterson was deserving of the MVP award that year. Coming off of a torn ACL, Peterson played out of his mind. The Vikings won 10 games and made the playoffs with Christian fricking Ponder at the helm. He ran for like six yards a carry that season. There are dozens more egregious MVP selections than this one. In fact, I am not so sure why you are confident Manning is the obvious call here. Both teams would have been abortions without their top player.

All of what you said.
Peterson won because in the era of needing a QB to win, the team literally rode him to the playoffs and 10 wins. 348 carries, 6.0ypc, and 2097 yards only 8 yards shy of tying a record set in the 80s. THAT is considered insane in today's age. Even Murray, who started off hotter than Peterson ended up cooling down.
Dickerson took 379 carries at 5.6ypc to get 2105
Lewis took 387 carries at 5.3ypc to get 2066
Sanders took 335 carries at 6.1ypc to get 2053 (MVP w/ Favre)
Davis took 391 carries at 5.1ypc to get 2008 (MVP)
Johnson took 358 carries at 5.6ypc to get 2006
Simpson took 332 carries at 6.0ypc to get 2003 (MVP)
In league history, even in years with great QB play, 5/7 players received the MVP that year of breaking 2k.
Sounds to me like he earned it by carrying his team.
