We will be fine on defense. A good coach will be hired and we have the horses.
Can't say the same for the offense

I am a donor and I can tell you that TAF literally has no influence on decision making when it comes to hiring coaches. Like in everything in the real world a few extremely large donors "and we are talking a very few and very large donors" do have influence and obviously have input but you need to be a "T. Boone Pickens" type to actually help make decisions in a program. The TAF does not do that and in all reality it would be a cluster frick if the TAF could influence those types of decisions. The University hires individuals that make those tough decisions we have to have faith in those individuals to make the right decisions. Just like anywhere else their work is graded and if they make bad hires they go too, just like in Michigan this past year.

This is going to be Les' s decision he will go to Joe with who he wants and Joe with decide to pay what is needed to be paid. If he doesn't want to pay what it takes to get the candidate than that candidate won't be hired. So Les has to convince Joe that he needs this candidate and LSU needs to pay the man to get the man.

Dudebro said it well, agreed. On other thing though I think many may assume Joe makes all hire and fire decisions in a vacuum...not true, Miriam Seagar on women's side and BOS also has a hand, much stronger than TAF although as noted large individual donors can also influence at times...

Who are the big time donors for LSU? And it can be good or bad, its worked out well for bama, UM, and TCU.

So why did TAF not step in and work out a package for Chavis?

Because your basic premise is incorrect: Chavis was NOT the program.

Do you trust Alleva, after the Chavis debacle to hire the next head football coach at LSU?
Would the word "NO!" suffice?

Because that is not how it works, it is that simple!!!!!

Look I am one of the alumni, fans and donor's that truly didn't want Chief to go and wanted LSU to pony up to pay Chief to stay. I think it is a huge mistake to let Chief go to TAMU because believe me when I tell you this Chief will have Miles number. He will know how to play against Miles offense but at this point who really doesn't.

That being said this IMO it really came down to a dollar & cents decision. When you go 8-5 in a season asking the AD to make chief one of the two highest paid assistants in college football I just don't think Alleva was willing to do that after this seasons results. At $1.33mil Chief would have still been in the top 5 paid assistants in college football and I think Joe was going to stick with that.

The so called "Miles" clause in his contract that everyone said was a deal breaker that doesn't even make sense to me. Miles is on contract through 2019 and since Michigan is off the table for at least 3 years with Harbough now there where is Miles going to go? He isn't going to another college except for Michigan and that ship as sailed for good!!! So Miles will be here for another 3yrs unless he really fricks up next year. So that clause for all intent & purposes won't be activated. Could Miles be gone in the next 2 years, possibly but not probably.

Worried about the qb ? You should be more worried about the reason the qb is so piss poor.

We have big donors....dont fool yourself and their opinions are heard...its doubtful they could actually bring in a new coach or usher out an old one....but the do have some power. $ talks after all.

Scotty Moran is what you would consider a big time donor.

I am a donor as well and the while the TAF encompasses thousands of contributors, I can assure you that the top 10-20 or so contributors do have some influence -certainly not X's and O's and not assistant coach hires BUT when the product on the field is sub-par then Alleva is hearing it - they are being listened to.

The top guys have some serious business sense and this has turned into a big business. The Golden Rule (he who has the gold makes the rules) applies - even when it comes to college football.

Ehh, tamus offense is just like ours, one dimensional. They can't run the ball and only did with johnny running around in circles. 3 and out is 3 and out. Just because they throw it 60 times a game doesn't mean they have a great offense.
