Best of luck to you. I would definitely be doing Howlin Wolf if I still lived in the WHD, but I don't feel like dealing with the cab/traffic situation out there now. It's definitely a good time.

I've been to Lucy's every year for the past 5 years except one where the state was taking care of me. The front bar gets a little packed, but not too bad since the crowd spills out onto the street. Back bar hasn't ever been crowded.
I know how bad Howlin Wolf can get, so I'm hoping it is just chill. If it is, we'll probably end up at the Mayfair, Bulldog, Balcony, etc uptown
Eta: I didn't know cabs still didn't bring people across the river. I thought that was against the law or something, but she said a bunch left her as soon as she told them where she wanted to go

Howlin Wolf wasn't bad for the most part so long as you show up when it starts and get liquored up. A lot of people showed up late, left early, or both. There was only about an hour long stretch where it was tough to get drinks.

This is my deal.
Hotels are likely $$$$$ if even available with Sugarbowl and NYE, so I don't want to do that. And staying with family on the Westbank means an outrageous cab, IF I can even get one.
Better for me to just stay home. I can do a nice night out in New Orleans anytime for much less money.

New Years day is also my birthday, doe. I would skip NYE and go out NY night if possible, but everyone is going to be hungover and recovering. Otherwise, I would probably skip it every year that I didn't live in walking distance to a place I want to go.

that same chick had lost her friends who went on Frenchmen. She was drunk as hell and was trying to get back to them. There was no luck getting a cab or pedicab so she wanted me to walk with her there. I told her that was way too far and that going back to her hotel would be quicker. We wind up going back to her room and she shot me down as we were making out on the bed. Later on that day she texted me but I wasn’t in the mood anymore.
