but it appears 43% don't pay income taxes.
We're talking about people whose earnings are so low -- if they did pay more taxes, many would probably be homeless -- what's the solution?

quote:The BK-TH merger was basically a merger of equals. Moving forward in that circumstance entails brand preservation/enhancement and implementing economies of scale and other advantages. Relative to the former, what would the Canadian national brand impact be if HQ had been transferred to the states? Relative to the latter, your $9/hr burgerflipper understands neither fiduciary duty nor the concept of repatriation.
How is that clear?

I didn't take it as a bitch about having to pay taxes, I read that as a statement of "I pay taxes just like you do" kinda thing.
Lol. He gets taxes taken out and then gets them all back at the end of the year. Just like me. Wait...

You're asking the wrong person, I just posted a link.
I do wonder though if the author(s) realized they would lose govt. benefits if their wage was $15/hr.

OTOH, as a rising tide floats all boats, we could . . . . . . grow the economy.

So... the guy makes $9 an hour but demands more because BK is getting a tax break this year?
Hilarious
Maybe he should go find a $10 job elsewhere.

Well, what you're talking about relates to BK's stated impetus for the merger -- growth. Moore and many in the media are saying it's about dodging taxes. I think both are factors, but I think it's more of a tax-driven decision than BK is willing to state publicly.

I think most workers would take that trade-off.

Burger King saying screw you America.

So they are already paying as much in taxes as, or more than, you think is reasonable. Why aren't you fighting for cuts to the corporate tax rates since the individual rates are where you think they should be?
The executives at BK won't suffer if their income tax rates were around 39% or so.

Sometimes I just wish you would do even basic research before you post idiotic drivel like this.

I think you're wrong. They don't lose benefits proportional to the extra money they make.

I know Buffett is involved with the deal, and I knew what he said about it before I posted that.

Then don't work for Burger King.

I think you're wrong.
Maybe I am, but I think most people who are receiving benefits would prefer not to, and if $15 per hour could make that a reality, I think most would make that trade-off.

Maybe learning correct english in high school was more important than they thought at the time?

What "trade-off?"

Yeah, I don't think you've had much dealing with folks on the lower end of the income scale.
