If the course is really crowded, some places wont even let them go off by themselves and will pair them up with another single if they can. or tell them they arent playing through

It's actually a badge of honor. I love knowing I bother someone so much they have to take time to go and down vote every post I make. Nothing says obsession like stalking.

Playing behind a group of members who think they own the course. Came upon a fricking sixsome at Copper Mill that wouldn't let anyone play through and we're playing one shot at a time.

Asked the cart girl what was up and she said that they were members and always played like this. Slowing down the whole damn course.

When a course has a special day, price wise, and lets twosomes play one behind the other while we have a 4 or 5 some and spend all day letting the fricking twosomes thru. Why they can't pair them up is beyond me. We had a marshall get on us for slow play, and had to tell the stupid mfer that we let 4 twosomes thru. I believe the pro/pro shop people, who usually are young and have no idea about golf, should be better educated on course play.

1. I always walk when I play alone. I get into a better groove and have time while walking between shots to think about what I just did and think about what I'll do on my next shot. In other words, I concentrate on my game.

See, I'm the opposite. I play much better when I don't try to think and overanalyze shite, and I just walk up the ball and hit it.

And they'd get to the ball and go through the routine Every. Single. Time. It took them forever.

I know what you're talking about here. But to be fair every golfer should have a set pre-shot routine when addressing the ball that sets them up in a proper frame of mind to get into a proper stance to deliver a good CONSISTENT swing. The thing though is that pre-shot routine when addressing the ball should not last more than few seconds, not a minute or two.

Slow play by far. You get beginners on the course who look for lost balls, take mulligan after mulligan and the course gets backed up. Many courses have rangers who won't say anything to them either.

Beginners are rarely the problem in my experience, and I have patience with them.

The problem are middle aged guys who've been playing shitty golf for 10 years and do the things described in this thread (yardage calculations on a shitty course for someone who can't get the ball in the air, waiting for green to clear, etc.)

The single that tries to play on the weekend and gets pissed when my foursome won't let him play through. If we are on a 4 hour or better pace, you aren't playing through. Deal with it. The course is crowded. You should expect a weekend round to last 4 hours.

I will say this...all the times I'm talking about playing alone, it's during the week or Friday early afternoon at the latest.

I don't play alone on the weekend.

So I agree with you here.

You shouldn't be able to play single on a weekend unless after 2. Hell a pair either.

You make over an 8 please pick it up.

See I disagree with this, unless you are just playing dreadfully slow and hacking it around and people are bottling up behind you.

I don't get it. You are only cheating yourself. Why not just say you got a hole in one on every hole.

And a lot of places won't let you anyway, or they'll pair you up at the very least.

I don't either. I don't even really care unless someone is trying to beat me but not counting all their strokes. Or they hit it OB on white stakes and play it like its a lateral hazard.

I remember playing a church golf tournament a few years ago that this guy from the office invited me to play in. They had two man teams paired into foursomes. He and a partner were paired with me and his preacher which was my partner. This guy dressed like Callaway was his personal sponsor, all in black from head to toe, including giant black Callaway straw hat that looked more like a sombrero on his head. The problem was he played like this was his first time to ever step foot on a course and his partner was about as bad. He never had a tee shot go more than about 50 yards at best and never got one off the ground more than knee high. Even playing best ball it would take him and his partner like 5-6 shots just to get to the green. When we got done and turned in our scorecards at the clubhouse though, we found out he'd recorded a score of like 2 under par or something. I've seen guys shave strokes before but this guy took it to a new level. And he did it right in front of his preacher.

When you don't hit it past the ladies tee box and you have to play the rest of the hole with your pants down (but you didn't wear underwear that day).
