What other reason could there be? Does he have connections to the Pacific Northwest?

From reading the Wisky fan message boards before and after the LSU-Wisky game, it was apparent that many of the fanbase were not fond of him and were growing impatient with losing big games and boneheaded decisions. In fact, the board read an awful like the Rant's discussions about Les Miles.

He looked completely incompetent in the LSU game. Worst 2nd half coaching performance I have seen in a long time. Melvin Gordon destroyed LSU in the first half and then got something like 4 touches 2nd half. He went air raid offense, with a lead, with an absolutely terrible QB.

Even so, that doesn't mean he's a good AD.

What kind of program is Barry Alvarez running there that drives a coach to choose Oregon State over Wisconsin?

A program that won't allow HC's to pay assistants well, but IDK if that would be the correct argument here.

Completely baffling. Oregon State got a major upgrade IMO.

No way. Riley is 10x the coach Anderson is.

Seems as though Andersen was getting a little frustrated with admissions. It is no secret that he recruited more than a handful of players that either didn't qualify or ended up de-committing due to grades.

It's one thing for athletes to meet NCAA requirements, it's another to actually be admitted into UW-Madison. Even for athletes, there are requirements and UW-Madison is a little more difficult than many other P5 schools.

Seems a little odd that this would be a reason why Andersen would leave, but I don't know that it is solely due to Barry, if at all.

He's from Utah and has spent most of his career on the West Coast. WC coaches typically prefer to coach out West. Remember back when everyone thought Petersen would end up at virtually every SEC school, only for him to finally leave and end up at Washington?

After being out west a couple times, I'm totally on board with this thought process. If I wasn't where I am, I'd probably go out west too.

Is there some kind of unspoken rule that to be Wisconsin's HC you must have sex with Barry Alvarez once a week?

Seriously, there must be something dark and hideous going on there.

Alvarez gets to coach another bowl. Something wrong when Oregon State is more desirable than Wisconsin.

Anyone know what the Badger fans are saying about this? It would be interesting to see if they are shocked, pissed, happy, confused.

They're fan base on 247 is split...some think blessing in disguise, some blaming Alvarez and Anderson.

Common denominator is they're shocked though as it came outta nowhere
