Seems as though Andersen was getting a little frustrated with admissions. It is no secret that he recruited more than a handful of players that either didn't qualify or ended up de-committing due to grades.

It's one thing for athletes to meet NCAA requirements, it's another to actually be admitted into UW-Madison. Even for athletes, there are requirements and UW-Madison is a little more difficult than many other P5 schools.

Seems a little odd that this would be a reason why Andersen would leave, but I don't know that it is solely due to Barry, if at all.

Adam Rittenberg, B1G writer on ESPN, pretty much tweeted the same thing I said (in much shorter characters):

Adam Rittenberg @ESPNRittenberg
Wisconsin’s academic policies for getting players in had to play huge part in Andersen’s decision. Had been extremely frustrated.

West coast a lot nicer than Wisconsin. I don't blame him.

As a whole, I am not disagreeing, but Madison is a beautiful city.

In the official statement, Andersen refers to Barry as "Coach Alvarez". That should tell you all you need to know.

I hate Jen Bielema. Not because I miss her fat arse husband as our coach. I hate her because she is probably laughing her arse off right now.

Holy shite. I thought it may have just been Bert a few years ago but Alvarez is clearly the issue after this.

It sure looks that way and I'm thinking the problem at Wisconsin runs a lot deeper than the situation with paying assistant coaches.

You're right, it's admissions... at least to Andersen.

LINK

Players and recruits react.

Incoming recruit, Jake Pickard, does not seem happy. Apparently was told by Andersen as early as a couple weeks ago that he would be sticking around. Also said he heard the news from a coach of another staff. Ouch.

Ok

Brett and Barry didn't get along. But every thing I've heard is that most people DO get along with Barry.

Hell, people call people "Coach" well after they have stopped. This even happened at my little ole high school, where a couple teachers were called "Coach XXXX" even when they hadn't in years.

Every thing I heard says this had nothing to do with Barry as a person.

A couple weeks ago a west coast job wasn't open, so makes sense.

In his defense, what is he going to say in that situation, especially when it was a few weeks ago? "Well I'll be honest, I phate our admissions standards and I've got my eye out for any P5 job that opens up out west."

It really stinks and I can empathize. Good luck to the Badgers with the coaching search.

I had read that article right before you gave the link but thanks for posting.

Not only that, but he's going to give the scoop to a 17/18 year old recruit who may not even attend the university?

Not a journalist or a leak from a friend/family member/agent? Just a, "hey kid, I happen to be in your living room and I have to say, my heart isn't in it and I'd rather be out West, you should still go to Wisconsin though, big gulps huh? cya later!"
