I hope they do well at this new spot, and I need to try some of the other sandwiches. The gumbo is decent, different but decent.

Actually stopped in for lunch today at the original one, owner said they were officially opening the other location tomorrow. The Big Pig was pretty tasty, as always.

From what I was told, there will be an expanded menu, similar to Cochon.

My wife and I went saturday to the new location and they served us.
I was busy all day and then we went to academy and dicks sporting goods looking for a piece of workout equipment. We were looking for a quick bite so she recommended the new city pork and I agreed. We had no idea it wasn't officially open yet nor that they were trying to make it nicer than the other location.
We get to the hostess station and they say it is a 30 minute although half the tables were empty at 730. They said the tables were all reserved. I assumed it was because I was wearing a varsity sports T-shirt, Nike shorts and bright minimalist running shoes. It is clear they are trying to make this a nice restaurant. They offered to let us sit outside and we agreed since we love eating outdoors.
The waitress was surprised to see us out there and said we were the first people to ever sit outside. At the point I realized they weren't really open yet.
The food was great and multiple people,ranging from the owner to the kitchen staff, checked on our meal. We had the rabbit spring rolls to start, which were great. We then shared a wedge salad, which was as good as any wedge at a nice steakhouse. I had to order the rabbit dumplings, which everyone should try, and my wife had the cubano and she loved it. The dumplings were a unique twist on comfort food with great flavors that worked well together. With two Nola blondes and a glass of wine the bill came to 72. It was well worth it.

Good to hear. Ryan Andre will be a great chef for City Pork 2. And a good friend just accepted the head chef position at the original location. There will likely be a lot of collabs between the two of them since they have done so in the past at other gigs.

The pork cheek pastrami Reuben appetizer is ridiculous. Have to try the bacon ice cream. Homemade vanilla with bacon and caramel. I'm not a sweets guy but that stuff was awesome.

I feel like they should try and distance themselves from Cochon/Butcher, because they are not even in the same stratosphere, but that's just me.

Just had lunch there today. Menu has a few more selections on it.

I have a legitimate question to ask here, not a troll:
I'm in the minority of people on this board that don't really care for the original City Pork. I will say that the menu at the new location looks interesting and if they can execute the dishes that it may actually be worth a visit. However, my question is if they are almost completely reworking the menu and trying to provide a different dining experience from the original City Pork, why not give the restaurant a different name? Many people who don't enjoy the original location likely won't be interested to try what they (I?) perceive to be a 2nd location of a mediocre sandwich joint. Does anyone have insight into this?
