So many movies are 3.99 on Amazon SD. If Redbox goes up that eats away at my will to hop in a car get it and then and drop it off.

I guess RedBox is going up because they aren't really competing with anyone. Your choices are NetFlix mail, which requires planning and patience, which we know America is bad at these days, and $4 for the lowest quality stream from most streaming services.

Or free off the internet

I used to use Redbox a lot but honestly, every time I stop and flip through the selections, nothing peaks my interest.
I wish there was a discount for returning it within 4 hours of renting. That would be badass.
ETA: Just as many options on hboGO, Hulu Plus and Netflix.

NetFlix mail
I haven't had Netflix mail service in a few years, but I always thought it was awesome.

Still a bargain. 2 bucks doesn't buy much these days.

Oh you mean that shite my grandmother used to use before she learned how to download movies for free?
It's 2014 no need for a robot-run, miniature Blockbuster.

I got a Redbox movie last night, and holy frick..the previews.
I assume that's how they keep the prices cheap, but seriously there were like 6 previews that you obviously cant FF through.
It was the first Horrible Bosses, so I had to sit through 3 year old previews for 20 minutes

I don't even know the last time I had a movie from Redbox.
If I'm not being picky, I'll watch an online stream for free.
If I want high quality, the $4 it costs to rent off iTunes on my AppleTV is well worth not leaving the house.

Redbox is raising prices but adding all kinds of incentives it seems. I get emails offering free rentals or 2 for 1 specials.
great business model but as one of you said, I will switch to amazon prime for rentals that I can keep since redbox is almost that price now anyway for blu rays.
Not to mention the selection is pretty shitty at prime locations.

I can get just about anything in a Redbox from Netflix or Amazon Prime. Even if I have to pay for it on Amazon, I didn't have to stand at a redbox while someone creeps over my shoulder waiting on me to be done.

Drown out the competition then worry about making more profits.

Gotta love amazon prime streaming. Press play and the opening credits start playing immediately.
