Long story short:
I'm 200lb, and I'm trying to get back to 185lbs. I work out at 6AM for an hour. I'm currently using a smoothie regiment of :
Greek yogurt
Granola
Berries
Whey protein
A little fruit juice for taste
It has been filling but I was wondering if anyone had any better suggestions on smoothie meal replacements and good ingredients to put into them.
I'm trying to cut my fat but maintain/strengthen the muscle I have/will build. What would be the best supplement to help me achieve this goal.

Might be a little too heavy on the sugar.

Control your carb/sugar intake and cycle your carbs to immediately after you lift.

Doesn't anyone just eat chicken and rice anymore to "get big"? How did all the old timers do it before all these supplements/meal replacers?

you want to compare sizes of NFL players this generation vs the 70's and 80's?

good point, but those are pro athletes. I'd assume their training, coaching, and athletic lifestyle would be night/day compared to most other people, no? If so, its not really a fair comparison.

Cut the crap and stop trying to make it taste good. Everything you are adding for taste is sugar.
If you want to gain/maintain muscle, you need protein. No way around it. Protein shakes are great post workout, but not meal replacement. They are liquid based which means your body will break it down much faster. You need to be replacing meals with lean meat.
Chicken, pork, fish. Want a snack, eat a can of tuna. Want a meal, eat a chicken breast. Add some greens in there too, they are good for you.

now this is what I'm talking about! What about hard boiled eggs less the yoke?

That smoothie recipe is not bad, but for your stated goal of loosing 15, it is probably too high in carbs/sugar.
I like
1. A lower calorie protien. You can find as low as a 20g/90cal split. I like musletech that comes with 24g/140cal/plus creatine mono.
2. I also work out in morning. I like 1% cup of milk for the carb replenish and taste.
3. PB2 powder 1tbs (23cals)
4. 1.5 cups of spinach/kale mix. It makes me more full, dark greens have tons of healthy shite, low in cals.
5. Ice
Once u loose weight u want add yummy stuff like granola and fruits.
This will have about 40g protien, 20g carbs, 4G fats.

Add 1 or 2 tablespoons of flax seed for the super poops. High in fiber.

What others have said about sugar is somewhat true. But this being a post/workout smoothie, the sugay won't kill you. Your body needs carbs and protein to refuel after a workout, and a smoothie is a great way to do it.
My postworkout shake is
scoop of chocolate whey protein
8 oz skim milk
1 banana
spoonful of almond butter
It's delicious and very effective after a workout

That's why I go heavy on the carbs in the morning--energy for work and so that I can reduce the amount of carbs I take in the rest of the day
