My brother and I are the only ones that got flu vaccinations because we both work in hospitals. My parents and cousin who lives with us didn't get it this year. My parents normally do, but they've been just busy with vietnamese new years coming up they haven't had the time.

Last 2 weeks, my parents, one after another, are bed-ridden with the flu. My cousin just got it today.

My gf's family got the flu one after another the past month (total 5 people), she's the only one that works in a clinic, so she got her vaccination and she's the only one okay.

Word of advice, get it if you know someone with the flu!

It beats autism. I'd say they made the right choice.

Here's a question - if employees were granted unlimited paid sick day leave by an employer (some on here thinks that's a wonderful idea) would you be willing to risk getting the flu in order to be able to stay home?

I had the swine flu when it was going around a few years ago. I had the chills so bad I was taking scalding hot showers to stay warm. I swore I'd get the flu shot after that. I haven't, despite getting the flu again year before last

I should get it this year, but I hate needles.

Flu shots are for babies and old people. I've had the flu 2-3 times in my life (23 years old) and it rarely lasted for more than 48 hours. I got the flu shot 1 time in college and that's the year I got the flu. I'll take my chances.

Every year I don't get the shot, I get sick. Employer has the workplace health people over 3x's in October to offer free shots for us so I take full advantage. Imagine that.

I use to get the flu shot when I was younger. It's useless now because I don't hang around trashy poor people any more.

The flu vaccine doesn't wave a magic wand and make one immune from the flu. On a good year (if scientists predict the correct strands of flu to vaccinate against) the shot lowers flu risk by 50-60%. If a strand pops up that is not covered by the vaccine, the vaccine is useless.

one of the best things people can do. People love to laugh about it but plenty of young otherwise healthy (I'm talking people in their 20s and 30s) die from it each year (people aged 25-60 account for about 60% of flu deaths last season.)

And anyone who tells you they got the flu from the shot doesn't understand science. The nasal mist can give you a flu-like prodrome but the shot is not scientifically able to give you the flu.

i've known a few people who got the flu vaccine and then were stricken with paralyzing MS symptoms. Prolly just the chemicals....those ware off after 700 years.
