Scenario: I want to get a 6+ but company only approved iphone 6's

It's going to be set up through an ATT business account.
Would I theoretically be able to go to the Apple Store once I receive my new iphone 6 and swap it out for an 6+ where I just pay the additional cost out of pocket?
Or am I SOL?

Tell your boss you demand a 6+ because you're a prima donna.

I was recently told at the ATT Store that you have 14 days to return a phone. FWTW
I assume you've already asked your boss if you can pay him the difference in price?
Or just find somebody who says the 6+ is too big and swap?

Unless you have access to the business account to make these sort of changes then the answer is no.

So you want to trade in a phone that isn't yours?
Posted on 11/10/14 at 8:32 am to Ignignokt
Yeah my company has a massive corporate account. Which of course I do not have access to.
Just wanted to trade in the 6 for the 6+ and pay the difference but figured it wasn't that simple.
Oh well.

Correct. Plus a $35 restocking fee. I just exchanged a note 4 for 6+.

Hmmmm...
Wonder if I could do this plus pay for the difference?
My company doesn't care as long as I don't steal whatever phone I am using.

you're going to have to get a sales rep involved... lunch, etc
Posted on 11/10/14 at 9:30 am to Grassy1
And if she's fat, gonna have to take one for the team to pull it off?
Posted on 11/10/14 at 10:35 am to okietiger
Have you talked to your it dept? They prob just got approved for a certain amount. You should be able to pay the extra $100
Posted on 11/10/14 at 10:53 am to okietiger
If there's any difficulty involved, I'm sure the rep wouldn't want to start some domino shite.
Now if she's fat... you gotta chance.
Would've been nice for the company to give everyone the option to pay the premium for the upgrade. But then again, maybe they want yall workin and not playing candycrush.

Best bet is to sell it locked, buy a 6 plus off contract and pop your company-provided sim in.
ETA: unless they're using some type of mobile device management software. If so, nothing really that you can do.
This is, by the way, why I prefer BYOD policies.

No there's no unique software on these phones.

He would also have to buy off contract on someone else's account that uses the same provider because he doesn't have access to the account.
The big thing though is he would be selling company property. Even though he would be replacing it with another phone, that other phone wouldn't be the company's phone. Could get in some shite for it big time selling off company property inappropriately. Same thing with any kind of trading.
Get approval to get the 6+ or just suck it up and get a free 6.

I'm gonna try to swap it at the ATT store knowing full well I probably won't be able to do it.

FWIW, I picked up my 6 today, and it's substantially larger than the 5.
My life if pretty mobile, so there's no way I'd even consider a 6+.
Good luck to you.

You should really be careful about this since most likely the company considers that phone property. If you get rid of it without approval, there is a very real chance it could be considered stealing.
Also if they don't happen to notice it, which most corporate accounts will flag new devices, if you are let go or such soon you would have to turn in the 6+ and be out the extra money you paid.
I'd be very careful trying to pull any of these workarounds. Go talk to whoever is in charge of it and be up front with what you want. Dodging IT staff and messing with company property is almost never a good idea.

I work for a $17 billion dollar company. They're probably not going to care as long as I don't attempt to keep the phone.
And I don't care about "losing" the extra $100-135 for the 6+.
