From a recommendation from the OB in the last thread like this, I read "A Land Remembered" by Patrick Smith and it was a great book.
also, from the same thread i bought "Open Season" by CJ Box. Its supposed to be a great book but after the first few chapters, i havent picked it up again

The Longhorns
By: J. Frank Dobie

It's a collection of short stories and the history of Texas Longhorn cattle. It begins with the Spanish Explorers who bought the cattle to the Americas. Then it carries the history through real cowboys and their relationship with the cattle on trail drives of the 1800's(i.e. The Chisolm Trail, Dodge City, KS). All the way to a point of near extinction around the turn of the century up until the 1950's.

It's not as outdoorsy, but it's a darn interesting read if you are in to old west history. It's a manly book...

A Sand County Almanac. But you may want to skip to the second section.

It has a nice little section dedicated to a certain Catahoula Parish outlaw.

I have really enjoyed African hunting books and have read these multiple times:

Death In The Long Grass and other Capstick books - entertaining
Hunter by JA Hunter - a first hand account of the incredible life of an early white hunter and an Africa that no longer exists
A Hunter's Wanderings In Africa - another old time hunting book

Man-Eaters of Kumaon- hunting tiger and leopard man-eaters in India, great book maybe should have listed this one first

Old Man and The Boy - The outdoors and life lessons
