Unreal scenerio but just imagine

I know it is extremely unlikely to happen but just think if
LSU wins out with losses to MSU and Auburn and
MSU loses to Ole Miss and Ala
Auburn loses to MSU and Ala
Ala loses to LSU and Ole Miss
Ole Miss loses to LSU and Auburn
All would end up 6-2 with both losses coming from their own division. Who goes to Atlanta and?
Remember all the domininos that fell into place in 2003 that put us in the BCS game. Stranger things have happened

after a season like 2007 you go with 2003 as the weird one?

I'll start to believe if MSU loses to KU and we beat Ole Miss this weekend.

sure, during the BCS era, things usually had to bounce your way to get into the championship game, but we actually had a very strong team that year.
Big difference compared to this year - we're just not very good. Stop trying to dance around that fact.

The last tie-breaker is which team beat the highest finishing team from the SECE.
As of right now, that is likely to be Georgia, so Auburn would go. Kentucky would have to beat MSU to get back in the race, breaking the scenario and Mizzou doesn't play any of the listed teams.

It's not that far fetched and could favor LSU as we would have two wins of quality programs towards the end. The later in the season a team loses, the more detrimental. However, isn't there a point tie-breaker rule in the SEC? Can someone refresh us on the rules in such a scenario?
My fear is beating Ole Miss and Bama to turn around and get whacked by Arkansas and A&M on the road. That could also happen in this conference and, if so, we will witness a rant meltdown the likes of which the world has never seen.

Well damn sure keep reminding yourself of that - don't you think the players know everyone thinks this way? And things just MIGHT get better.
If I had your attitude I'd just stay home and deer hunt Saturday.

I agree with this.

Pick the top four and send them to the college football playoff

I'll start doing the "imagine" stuff with LSU wins in the next two games. Until then...no thanks. Today as far as LSU goes, I just want them to win Saturday night.

This.
If the new playoff selection committee's intention is to be believed, then the BEST team goes, regardless of record. If everybody has two losses, is an undefeated ECU or Marshall team going to get in over a 2 loss Bama or Auburn? Hell no.
If FSU goes undefeated, but WInston gets hurt and can't play in the playoffs, is FSU still a top 4 team? Hell no. And the committee should keep them out b/c it's not about the record, it's about HOW GOOD YOU ARE IN COMPARISON WITH THE OTHER TEAMS. right?
Please discuss the new thinking vs the old BCS thinking.

Sort of. The actual tiebreaker is the combined SEC record of East opponents, so if you beat a 7-1 and 0-8 team, you still lose out to a team that beat two 4-4 teams. Auburn is still likely to win that tiebreaker though, since they're the only school involved who plays Georgia.

FYI: the last time gasoline was $2.69/ gallon in LA was 2007 when LSU wins the BCS with two losses. Gas was $2.74 in Lafayette yesterday with the price of crude continuing to fall.

Auburn will lose against South Carolina..

That would simplify things somewhat... lose to South Carolina and Georgia, and just drop out of the tie altogether.
