There is a place across the street from where I work, when I get there I will post the name, for some reason it escapes me right now but I haven't had coffee yet either

Be careful, WBRZ is now reporting there's a distinct possibility of Ebola-tainted granite flooding the Baton Rouge market.

Prayers sent.

I had granite installed by American Granite 6 months ago. I am pleased with the work and the price.

Stone is gneiss, but it's often taken for granite.

Menzie Stone
American Granite
Ascension Grante
First In Counters

Most flooring places too like Best Buy Flooring.

The stone yards mentioned above by another poster are mostly not going to sell to anyone but the installers like the ones I mentioned. But the installers will send you there to pick your slab if they don't have what you want on site.

I worked at Tuscan stone for a little while during school. If you want selection, it was great then and supposedly the company is doing better now, so maybe more options. I know Tommy really cares about his stone, he had an extra overhang built right after I left, so all his marble is still inside but he now has more of the finer exotics sitting under cover which protects their colors from the sun.

I remember passing by triton one time and wasn't impressed, we had more options from granite and marble. If you want crazy exotic granite /marble he can get it from his New Orleans warehouse where he has even more slabs.

But like the post above you have to find an installer, typically first but can be done after, you obviously won't be taking the granite home with you. We delivered to the dealers only. Michael Paul on Airline Hwy. south from I-10 was probably the best. At least that's what all the other granite dealers I talk to along with coworkers and previous customers. He's a lil' more expensive than others but he cut and installed better than everyone else imo.

Get the installer you want and then go to Tuscan stone.. Great selection here but even more in New Orleans.. Just wander around and find the piece you want.

There are several places to buy granite. Are you looking design and fabrication? Are you looking for quality stone for a nice build?

Or are you looking for bulk stone for a big cookie cutter job?

Diniz Design is the place to go for good stone and good design and fabrication.

Steer clear of Granite Depot on Airline. They jacked up my installation and haven't followed up on a single promise to rectify the problem. Lesson learned, carry your own financing when building a house.

I can recommend Micheal Paul Granite. He isn't the cheapest but all the granite wholesalers said how good his seems are. He has done a ton of my wife friends homes as well as mine.

Jesus, if he changed his last name to Granite, he must be good.
