Hi Fred!
I want to be friends...will you guys let me in your group?
Posted on 10/16/14 at 11:09 am to AlxTgr
I'll take back everything I said If you do....and, I'll gain 40 pounds, get an xbox live membership (and a headseat of course), leave my wife and kids, chop off my left arm and leg (so we're the same athletically), and I'll even learn the cryptic td lingo that you guys use. Do you guys have an initiation process? Will I get hazed? Oh wait, you bastards....these last two days have been the hazing process...You guys!!!

Have the blatant mistakes with clock management and gameday coaching been forgotten? It just makes it difficult to believe in a coach, lawyer, or doctor when they don't know these basic things.
So this is why u dislike him? Game day mistakes? If so watch some college football, these things happen every weekend. Would u try a fake Punt in your own territory up 21-0 against the defending champions?
U seem like an educated higher income kinda fella. Are u perfect in your field of employment. No weaknesses at all?
Im surrounded out here in Texas with people that cant believe, there are die hard LSU fans like you. Do u really have alot of friends that think Miles is not a good coach? Im as stumped on this as u are, inversely.
Keep finding faults in Miles, dont look for the good, just the bad. While u are at it, try it out on other coaches as well. Pick a school and then watch all the mistakes that happen each yr.

You'll have to stop responding to yourself. Collect all thoughts. Make one post. Then, I'll get the group together. Can't guarantee you won't be balled though. Just takes 1.

I actually spent some time in Texas...and was ridiculed when I was there. I can remember the Monday after the '09 ole miss game...wow.
Anyway, to answer your question ABSOLUTELY...I make mistakes every day. Who doesn't. HOWEVER, all mistakes can't be grouped into the same category. I had zero problem with the fake fg against Bama that didn't work in '12...I like the agressive playcalling. I would never fault Miles for trying to win the game. But come on man, the clock management issues....I can't even make legitimate parallels to other professions...even though I've tried (with the doctor and lawyer things).

Do you have a list of coaches that don't make clock management mistakes?
I'm sure I will hear nothing but crickets.

So far so good.

This is a good strategy ONLY if you have a dominant defense.
No. It's a good strategy if you can run the ball, out physical your opponent and not turn the ball over.

Once LSU falls behind, they have almost zero chance of catching up with this offensive philosophy
This could be said about every offensive philosophy. If you throw it 60 times but only complete 15 passes & can't run the ball - you have zero chance of catching up.

Sometimes you need to abandon your philosophy for an interim period of time.
No you don't. You just need to execute it better.

After figuring out that his defense wasn't good
It wasn't his defense it was his craptastic offensive line.

he told Jimbo to unleash Rohan and try to outscore everyone b/c the defense simply wasn't good enough.
See above. We've run on everyone we've played except MSU.

Bottom line, Jennings is not mentally or physically capable of leading a prolific passing offense
You don't know that. There is a ceiling and it's really unfair to say he's reached it.

I get it. The kid is talented, but I don't understand the amount of worship he gets.

you actually might have a chance at coming back via the forward pass.
I believe it was the forward pass that brought us back against florida.

I have a list of coaches that don't know that the clock stops after a change of possession. Here they are in alphabetical order:
1) Les Miles

It wasn't his defense
That 2001 Defense gave up 393.5 YPG & 5.8 YPP.
That's easily the most since 2000.

one of these is not like the other. Miles game plan against UF is perfect for TAMU.

OP - please post a list where you have coached. Thanks in advance.

Do u really think anyone out here remembers the LSU Ole Miss game in 09? Talking about WOW!
Didnt really ask, if u make mistakes at your gig. Asked if u have weaknesses at your profession.
As far as dr's and lawyers ? Does it really matter if I have the best defense attorney in the city, but he was a terrible prosecutor?
Just win baby, especially when its my a@@.
Miles is good and has done much better and lasted alot longer than u ever thought he would. Right knowitall, but didnt know that.

if I'd have done a deep analysis, I'm sure I'd have found dozens of inexperienced QBs who've produced very well on the field. Those guys I listed are the one that came immediately to mind, clearly because they're exceptional.
But my overall point is that if a QB has what it takes, they can (and do) excel from Day 1. Experience helps, of course, but let's be careful not use it as too much of a crutch.

I think people overestimate TAMU. Their running game isn't strong and the strength of our defense is pass defense. I can see us really slowing down their offense.
Additionally they seem to do really well out of the gate under Sumlin. If we get a stop on the first drive, you can pretty much chalk up the game as a win. If they don't get out early, they're in trouble.

This is wrong. This is the belief of the majority of the people out there. Les Miles plays to his strengths and not to what HE WANTS. Jennings passing ability is suspect. So we are trying to run the ball. The entire fan base wants us to air it out. Miles wants to throw more to be he is not going to do that because he would rather win than lose.
Miles is conservative... Miles is the Mad Hatter! Why has that changed? Because we do not have the personnel to be successful taking long shot risk like we did when he was labeled the mad hatter.
It all has to do with the strengths and weaknesses of the team.

The problem isn't that we run a "pro style" offense it's Les Miles still thinks you can have a productive offense dotting I and running straight at people. You simply can't this day in age. I did like the fact we ran a good many outside zone running plays against UF. We had sucess with it and I hope it doesn't go away. As for what I would like to see. More single back or H-back sets with I formation used strictly for short yardage and goal line situations.

You can - if you are four talent-grades above the D OR if you'll not concede about 1/3 of the field as a no-pass zone which is largely what we've done since '08 because Les was spooked by the int fest that year.
It's not formations or talent or youth or "execution" that only scored 7 vs Auburn. It's that we take an ultra-conservative approach to what we attempt on O.
