A Habersham County grand jury has decided not to charge any of the law enforcement officers involved in the botched drug raid that disfigured a toddler.

Nineteen-month-old Bounkham “Bou Bou” Phonesavanh’s nose was detached from his face after a stun grenade landed in his playpen during the raid, carried out by a Habersham SWAT team in May. According to an incident report obtained from the Habersham sheriff’s office, deputies were told to anticipate a cache of weapons and armed guards at the home.

A search inside turned up neither guns nor drugs. Wanis Thonetheva, who didn’t even live at the house, was arrested later that day without incident and charged only with possession of methamphetamine.

Mawuli Davis, the attorney for the Phonesavanh family, said the family was “devastated” to learn no criminal charges would be brought.

The 23-person grand jury heard evidence for six days before releasing their 15-page presentment.

I'm sure there will be a civil suit but it's crazy that there wasn't even an indictment.

well, I can't see where they did anything criminal, so I'd say that was the right decision...

they were negligent as hell, and as a result, none of them will ever have to work again once the lawsuits are done...but that is a whole different matter...

I could see not being indicted, but there should definately be some monetary penalty. I hate frivolous lawsuits, but dis ain't one

And the cop worship in America continues. You guys deserve these jack-booted thugs that call themselves the police.

Looking forward to seeing some of the same brainiacs that will be posting their outrage in this thread in the next "how do I get out of jury duty" thread.

Read the document that the grand jury put together. They stated that they felt sympathy for the cops and that they showed real regret for their actions which played into them not indicting.

Boo fricking hoo. That is some bullshite right there. What a travesty.

I see the cop hate group think is in full swing here. What exactly did they do wrong?
There was a warrant for a legal search. They anticipated armed guards, are they supposed to knock on the door be sitting ducks?

The solution:

Stop letting fricking GED redneck SWAT team members go around playing FBI Hostage Rescue Team with money from DHS. "Well we got these flash bangs so I guess we'll use 'em in trying to arrest an unarmed petty meth dealer."

Shouldn't be in jail, but they shouldn't be SWAT anymore either. Hope this family gets paid, and they cops are back looking for speeders.

@ some of the responses here. You'd think by reading this board that SWAT tried to intentionally hurt the baby. It's not like they peek through the window first to see if any kids are laying in bed.

Poor intelligence it appears and why not just wait for this Bou Bou skank to walk to her car or follow her to the store?
