It's a really disheartening situation, and one this board is very familiar with. los angeles tiger turned out to be gay. And this isn't isolated. I have a family member who's the same way. Virulently, almost radically anti-gay, and I've heard from several gay friends that, in private, he's come on to them.

It's a genuinely upsetting situation. These people aren't, by their nature, self loathing. They're almost without exception forced to behave the way that they do, and their passion on the topic comes from a desire to be unassailable.

I'm pretty sure the University of Georgia did a study about this, and the results showed that homophobic men were more likely to be sexually aroused by gay porn.

Since you finally updated, I believe LAT's issue was the tactics the gay movement used in the quest for equality.

This is an absolute shitty thread....but I'll play along

You take the experience of what? one or two people and cast this blanket?

I love how anti-homosexuality, esp ones based upon religion, is cast into a hateful, fear mongering bunch... I happen to think homosexuality is wrong, sinful, and not natural.

But on my list of 5,783 things to worry about in life, homosexuals and what the hell they're doing in the bedroom is pretty much the last fricking thing on that list. I don't wish them harm, I certainly don't hate, and as long as they were a decent human being I'd pretty much give one my last dollar, shirt off my back, or the last bread from my table.

And as far as the gay porn stuff.... I just can't imagine....and I'm a pure bred member of the 'I'm pretty sure I like pussy crowd'

Don't know about that, but they are likely to have a wider stance in public bathrooms.

I never understood why he could never seperate the core socially conservative principles he grew up with from the reality he was facing as an openly gay man.

he was open about it. he wasn't against homosexuality...he was against the risky behaviors of that culture

he lived in los angeles, though, so he got to see an extreme example of the culture that we won't ever see here in LA

What do you mean "turned out to be" ?? Are you implying that he was 'in the closet' ??

It was no secret. He just didn't go around making it the focal point of his life, like our Ol Miss fan does. He was a conservative, and abhorred the 'gay pride' bullshite that was going on.

You are talking about a good friend of mine. If you don't know him personally, go easy with your assumptions.

Maybe since my SO is anti gay marriage, I can talk her into having the good kind of three-way. I guess I need to go take that class at New Mexico

FT, its alright that you are gay, but quit rationalizing about everyone else. Like what you like and quit trying to justify it. It makes you look desperate for the daddy love you never got..

I know several ppl that grew up in extremely closed minded houses and either the person is gay or just hasn't come out of the closet yet. It is a rebound thing, kinda like if you are too strict on your daughter so goes to college and becomes a major sloot.

"turned out"..... :rotflmao:

You just weren't paying attention. He just didn't share the unimaginative, knee-jerk, reactionary way of viewing the world. He was an Original Thinker with a first-rate mind and he didn't pander to Gay Rights Industry orthodoxy.

As for your premise, I have no idea if it is true or not. But It sure is part of The Gay Rights Industry Narrative. Gay Rights Industry Orthodoxy assumes that anyone who disagrees on a policy issue is smoking pole and so forth. It's a poor substitute for thought, and text book Alinsky 101 in every respect. It's fundamentally dishonest and hackish to bat away legitimate policy debate with simplistic Narrative.

I think it's FAR more complicated than this .

And for the record, I think it's really bad form to misrepresent and simplify the nuanced views of a departed and beloved poster with whom you disagreed with.

I haven't encountered any 'severely anti-gay' people in my life so I don't know. I am severely anti-lesbian. But I'm pretty sure I'm not a lesbian.

Yes.

I think it's very clear that Fred Phelps was homosexual.

I've only read page one, but this quote above chaps me off.

LAT never hid his homosexuality. Ever.

I'm about to rant, but you are clearly too stupid to waste my lunch break typing.
