The attorney for an Ohio State University student who ran onto the Ohio Stadium field during a football game on Saturday night said yesterday that his client has lost his full-ride scholarship because of the incident.
Anthony J. Wunder, 21, hit the field in the second quarter of the game between the Buckeyes and the Cincinnati Bearcats. He was quickly tackled by former OSU linebacker Anthony Schlegel, now an assistant coach for the Buckeyes.
Wunder, a Cincinnati resident, was hauled off the field by Schlegel and security staff members, and the resulting photo and video quickly went viral.

Good. That dude is a fricking idiot.
Is there a gif of the coach body slamming him?

Defendant: I plead not guilty to trespassing.
Prosecution: Your honor, I would like to call the first of my 100,000 witnesses.

Collins, however, said that Wunder remains enrolled at Ohio State. He is a fourth-year student in a five-year engineering program, Collins said.
The nonprofit Evans Scholars Foundation gives academic awards to college students who have served as golf caddies.
Great decision to run on the field.

First time Schlegel ever made an open field tackle

I didn't think it was that serious. Could they not slap him with some academic probation?

football players are allowed to do much worse before they lose their scholarship

Wow wanting to be "cool" cost him his scholly. Enjoy student loans.

The guy is stupid for running on the field but the coach is a super douche that needs his arse kicked. What a tough guy he must be overpowering a college student who weighs a 150lbs.

Was this guy high or u see the influence then I could maybe see him losing a scholarship. But football players do way worse things like saying they ducked her right in the pussy in front of the student body while performing a solo demonstration of the fricking. Oh well

Play dumb arse games, win dumb arse prizes

Never understood the allure of running onto the field.
Feels like a 60's/70's relic when people were actually protesting something.
What was that fool protesting?
Urban Meyer losing to winless in the (ACC) Virginia Tech.

Well that defines disproportionate response.
I get it, he trespassed. Its nothing to ruin his whole life over. The humiliation and body slam was almost enough.

So many inconsistencies here:
1. All the 'stand-your-ground' arguments are just a bunch of prevaricated rationalization - there was no threat. Coach's response was disproportional physical assault, was obviously not required, and appeared vindictive in its intent.
2. What happens to the kids that storm fields and arenas after 'big' wins? Are they all charged? Do they all have the book thrown at them, too?
3. What exactly is the grave harm that has been done by such a juvenile stunt? Is it better or worse than kids yelling obscenities at college games? Is it better or worse than under age kids attending college games under the influence? Is it better or worse than fans getting into fist fights at college games?
The bravdo surrounding the abuse of this kid is squalid.

bout time someone at OSU received an actual punishment.

Look, revoking scholarships, suspending, expelling - that's all administrative stuff and I can't argue with a bunch of by-laws that I don't know.
I'm certain he can be charged because anyone can be charged with practically anything - that's not news.
I do think he was assaulted by the coach - plain and simple.
It's also true that I think his treatment in its totality is out of proportion to his indiscretion.

Funny thing is, if the coach doesn't go Hulk Hogan on him, the video doesn't go viral and no one cares. He may not have lost the scholarship, either. ![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/Icons/IconLOL.gif)

Is that a T-Peezy jersey he is wearing? If so, he is the gift that keeps on giving.
