Well, other teams do recruit scholarship athletes and pay good money for their coaches. They also want to win.

That's generous.

Obviously it didn't end well, but that team was still elite.

Nobody was beating that Bama team twice.

so...

that bama team is a better "Best team of the modern college football era" and the "one of the best" LSU teams wasn't even #1 that year?

SU 2011 might have had one of the most talented rosters ever and we were basically elite at every offensive, defensive, and STs position except for 1 spo

Any team with an elite D (not a great D, but ELITE) could beat the '11 LSU team.

That means:

01 Miami
02 OSU
03 LSU
98 UT
99 FSU
00 OU
04 Auburn
04 USC
06 UF
08 UF
09 Bama
11 Bama
12 Bama

All these teams could've/did beat LSU '11 due to an elite defense.

We had a 1k yard rb, 2 1k wr, and a 4k qb last year. First time in school history. But you want a new coach and new offense. Seems legit,

our offense could have been better last year, but ignoring that, if you believe we can only have a non-horrible offense with super studs at QB, RB, and both WR positions, then you're basically admitting that LSU will have a good offense once a decade or so

No one has done less with more than Les Miles.

We have the most players in the NFL, yet we have very little to show for it.

Golden Years of LSU Football, I always here. Not sure what's so golden about winning a bunch of games, not winning the SEC, and then playing in non-BCS bowls.

What are you calling in the running for a national title? Is losing the Chicken Bowl " in the running for a national title"? Seems like you are counting that one.

it doesn't kill bama

These people saying it is the talent deficiency are dumb. Sure we may lack some but the fact is on offense everybody on TV and in the stadium knows what we are gonna do. Proof first 3 plays runs = fail. Bama uses there TE's in their passing game it opens up the middle of the field for runs = Win. We are constantly facing 9 men in the box and I dont care how much talent you have on the OL it doesn't work. We spread it out in offensive sets we look good or at least move the safeties and linebackers out the box. Defensively well other than we have slow DE's and hardly any linebacking its no wonder we gave up the yardage we did last night.

We employed the same gameplan against Alabama 3 years ago, and it resulted in one of the most embarrassing losses in the history of the program.

And yet, here we are again. Same stubborn gameplan, and another embarrassing loss.

2011 LSU's body of work is up there with anyone's, and yes, it is my belief that 2 of the best teams of the modern era happened to play in the same division and split games with each other that year.

it's kind of like an internal cleansing.

While true, getting their asses whooped on 1/9/12 didn't result in any changes.

quote:

so don't falsely interpret these discussions as a celebration that LSU lost. if the horrible arse beating of last night didn't wake you up, these conversations are supposed to do that. and yes, these are teh same discussions because yes, miles is still miles'ing up LSU

The main thing is that LSU and its sunshine pumpers attacked anyone that could see these issues through the ugly wins. If you don't like Les or his approach, they throw his win/loss record out at you.

In the end, Les isn't going to change, and even if he does it will be changes made too late unlike his counterparts at many other top programs. But why should we care, the sunshine pumpers because of fear of something that happened 20+ years ago, are afraid of the unknown despite how things have changed.

we've been a "young team" for every year after saban's players left the program. this is always the excuse. every year

no don't fire the whole staff

i don't see me or mous calling for that. in fact, i said last night (and he made a thread today) that there aren't too many great alternatives. we're stuck with les. we have to ride it out and hope he improves as a coach. we have to hope he puts his ego aside and adapts to the modern college game. his ego is killing our program

Whats your point?? I am saying we went undefeated playing an extremely tough schedule even though the most important player on the team was a bad player (JJ and JL).
