Could this be the old Spot Delivery Scam? LINK
Also called Yo-Yo Financing. Another Link
Best way to avoid it is do not swap cars with them until financing is 100% approved by the lender. Too late for that here.
They've probably sold your trade-in at an auction already, so the deal can't be easily unwound.

Bull shite....They stay open till at least 8 or 9 pm. You didn't go because you thought you were getting away with something. What can you do over the phone that would make you not need to go over there?
Seriously, frick off with this stupid shite.
I have a kid who is playing 2 sports right now, we just got home from practice. I play 1 night a week as well and had to miss my game last night due to working late.
On top of that, I work a full time job and have been having to work a lot of extra hours. I also have joint custody of my kid and have him 60-70% of the time. My girlfriend travels a lot for work and can't always help, which has been the case the last week.
I have to do his homework with him, get dinner done, get him cleaned up, and in bed on time as well. He's still pretty young.
Don't try to call bullshite on me when you know nothing about me or my life. If I say I've been busy and haven't had time to drive an hour out of my way and sit up there for 2 or 3 hours, then that means I haven't had time.

Yeah, he's an assistant service writer/detail man/sticker installer.

Seems like something similar happened to me one time when I bought my first car. Dealership called and said the financing company wouldn't approve the length of my loan. Asked me to come in and re-sign some papers. As best as I could gather at the time (being a naive young simpleton), the monthly payment didn't seem to change, so I went ahead and signed the papers. Wound up paying the car off in full early anyway.

This topic makes me chuckle.
1) the vehicle still belongs to the dealership. You agreed to make a loan with a bank to borrow money to finance the vehicle that belongs to the dealer not you. If the bank bounces the contract then your only option is to get financing done from another lender.
2) A demo is not considered a "used" vehicle; A vehicle has to be titled and then traded in for it to be considered preowned. I see them in demo mode sometimes up to 10,000 miles and still sold as "new" vehicles.
3) At least you are trying to call the dealership and amend whatever the frick went wrong here, whether it was no POI, no POR, etc. Good luck to you.

They did finance through a credit union and gave me dealer financing incentives. They likely have some sort of relationship with this credit union, don't know and don't care. I got the rebate so that's all that matters.
This just doesn't make sense. Those rebates are for Ford Motor credit and whatnot... Not a credit union. Why would Ford (used as an example) offer rebates so a credit union could make the points?
I have seen this once before... The lady had bad credit and her rate jumped several points.

Holy shite rebates are not "special financing terms". shite.
"0%" or "0.9%" for 47 years is what is typically offered by the manufacturer's financing arm.
The rebates are just that...either manufacturer or dealer rebates. They'll apply whether you finance with a credit union or your mother.

Check the rebates listed
There is a $1000.00 rebate for using ford motor credit. I get the difference between rebates and the finance rate... That's not what I was saying. I was saying the rebate is used to push people to use ford motor credit so they (fmc) get the loan. Ford will not provide a rebate so another entity will get the loan. The rebates come from the manufacturer and its credit arm.

Wrong. First, often when you buy a car, there are rebates given by the manufacturer and then rebates given by factory finance companies. If you finance with an outside lender, you'll still get the first rebate but give up the second. Also, most of the time, if you take the "special APR", you give up the factory rebate.
Ex. Right now On a new Maxima, in my district, Nissan offers $4000 customer rebate, and $500 NMAC finance rebate. If you want to finance for 0%, you have to give up the $4000. If you decide to finance with an outside lender, you'd get the $4000 rebate, and give up the $500 NMAC financing rebate.

Sure you can sell it as a new vehicle, but you also better display a Used Car Buyer's Guide on a demo vehicle.

Directly from the FTC.
Previously titled or not, any vehicle driven for purposes other than moving or test driving, is considered a used vehicle, including light-duty vans, light-duty trucks, demonstrators, and program cars that meet the following specifications:
• a gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of less than 8,500 pounds;
• a curb weight of less than 6,000 pounds; and
• a frontal area of less than 46 square feet.

The warranty for a demo doesn't start until it's titled.

Had a dealer give me a price, then told me that in order to get that price I needed to use their financing.

The warranty starts when the vehicle is RDR'd to the manufacturer.

Wrong. Ford is currently running promotions with FMC where you either get $2k rebate and 0% APR or you get $4k rebate and a higher rate.
ETA: Either way, you have to finance with FMC to get the rebates.
