You're thinking of Dante's Peak.

I hope they're paying higher insurance rates for those risks like we do with flood insurance down here. The West Coast states were some of the most vocal about not giving aid to Gulf States after hurricanes.

West Coast and East coast whine and cry when Midwest gets hit by flooding or tornadoes, and fed money goes to them, but they have 1 event happen to them and we all should stop our lives and pray for them and give immediately.

When Mount St. Helens erupted there was ash that fell in some parts of Mississippi. Once it gets in the atmosphere, shite would be bad.

Yeah, the ash and shite falling out of the sky won't do any harm at all.

Yes
Largest in the 20th century was Novarupta. LINK

quote:

The eruption occurred on the Alaska Peninsula (in Alaska), only ~170 km from Kodiak and ~440 km from Anchorage.

It was the largest eruption of the 20th century, beating 1991 Pinatubo by a factor of 3 in volume and, for comparison, 1980 Mt. St. Helens by a factor of 30!

100 years ago, Alaska was the site of the world's largest explosive volcanic eruption of the 20th century. During 60 hours, over 3 cubic miles (about 13.5 cubic kilometers) of magma blasted through the floor of a broad glacial valley in what is now Katmai National Park and Preserve.

The Valley of 10,000 Smokes is an awesome place to see. Can't imagine what an explosion like that would do to a populated place if it happened on Mt. Ranier.

Parts of Seattle are built on old Rainier mudflows.

Yep. Tacoma would bear the brunt, I believe if it ever did go though. Much of Tacoma is built on old Rainier debris.

Rainier is "rotten" on the inside. The biggest danger is the mountain collapsing.
