Saying bye-bye to booze

Any success stories? Looking for advice on how to completely kick the urge.
I have slowed down a significant amount in the past 15 months, but now I'm attempting to knock it out completely.
Oh and any failure stories are welcomed as well...

I stopped drinking completely when I started using heroin.

I've said "bye-bye to booze" several times. Most times in the near vicinity of a toilet. I've decided to just befriend it now and it is much nicer to me.

I quit drinking last night. Will resume in a couple hours. It's pretty easy.

you stopping the beer, or alcohol all together?
are you doing this b/c you drink too much now, or you're going on a diet?

A big part of it is going to be removing yourself from situations and people that you associate with booze, especially at the beginning. Also, make sure that you let people know you are quitting. Surround yourself with people who will support you and will hlep you resist when you are tempted.
AKA: new playground, new playmates
Best of luck to you.

My New Year's resolution was to not drink jack until my bday(March). Wasn't that hard after I figured out that I liked Crown & Sprite also

If you aren't an alcoholic it should be pretty easy to stop. But if you aren't an alcoholic you probably don't need to stop. And if you are an alcoholic, well, there are programs...

Sobriety is highly over rated.

Ever heard of that song.. If I have one, I'll have 13?
Multiply that by 2 during football season. Just trying to put it to rest for a while to prove to myself there is fun to be had sober.

I've given it up for Lent before. Not doing that again. It was extremely hard being in social situations and resisting the urge. I admit I cheated twice I think. The first 2 weeks are cake and you actually start to feel pretty good. But after that.....

you are better off without it, but you will have to make some hard changes. its not just changing what you put in your cup, but who you hang out with, where you go, where you don't go, etc...

You sound like an alcoholic. Seek treatment.
