During the game, I was caught up in the emotion and felt like this was not a very good team. I watched the game again and the mistakes that got LSU into a hole are VERY fixable. This is an incredibly talented team and they are very fast. If LSU can fix just a few things, they blow Wisconsin out.

What we say in the late 3rd/early 4th is the real LSU team. The defense is aggressive and the offense is going to be really good.

I was wrong. This is going to be an excellent team once they all get on the same page - which I think will happen sooner rather than later.

I am encouraged.

I agree....first half looked horrible. Second half we looked unstoppable running the ball.

If Wisconsin would've kept running the ball, they would've won

I just rewatched the first half, and it wasn't near as bad as I remember. So, I agree, this team has some issues to address, but if they do, they could be very good come October/November.

We had identical experiences. I just turned off the replay and feel much better. There is still a ton of improvement needed....but I feel much better than i did in NRG Saturday night.

What you saw in the late 3rd/early 4th is Wisconsin playing without three guys: their two best defensive players and Gordon, their best player.

The first half play calling was about as conservative and uncreative as can be and played perfectly into Wisconsin's blitz heavy stack the box defense that LSU has seen year in and year out.

The second half they got into such a hole they had to take the reigns off and spread the ball around and that actually allowed for a really young offense grow up very fast. Diarse and Dural in particular seem like 2 very athletic and explosive players.

I hope the spread adjustments that Cam made become a staple of the offense. Jennings played pretty mistake free. Ran the read option well and moves the pocket and throws on the run very well. He needs to work on reading over the middle and learn how to get the right depth on screen passes. He looked for the bomb way too much but he has a nice zip and has good height on his long passes.

If they go into SEC play with the offense from the 2nd half of Saturday, LSU could have a potent offense again this year.

All of those QB keepers where Jennings made the read and kept the ball paid off. In the 4th quarter when Hilliard had those runs, both the linebacker and defensive end bite on Jennings and leave the hole wide open for Hilliard.

Our line play on both sides of the ball was not that great. The only way we could stop the run was by stacking the box. This is not a good sign. Other than that I was encouraged.

I don't disagree with that, but it's hard to tell much of anything from that game the other night because Wisconsin's QB was so terrible and because of the injuries Wisconsin had on defense.

They had no passing game at all. Is that why we were able to stop the run? We will see what this defense has when we face a team with a decent offense.

They lost two defensive linemen from what I recall as being a thin defensive line to start with. Is that why we were able to run the ball in the second half?

I have to assume that every SEC contender will have a better QB and will be a deeper team than Wisconsin.
That's not to say we won't win the SEC. This wasn't a pretty game for LSU, but it was the first game of the year. I'm just glad the woeful first half and 3rd quarter didn't result in a loss. Against a team with a competent QB and deep defense, we probably would have lost.

I rewatched the game last night and I agree. The defense actually played pretty well in the first half except for a few missed assignments that Wisky made us pay dearly for. Kwon in particular had a rough time in the first half but in the second, he started filling the correct holes and played great. It was a huge turnaround.

There was a point at which we could have taken all the momentum early after the Dural TD and then we stopped them deep in their own end of the field. Tre returned the punt to the Wisc 35 but there was a block in the back penalty. Still we started in great field position but that drive went nowhere. If we could have scored a TD on that drive, it's 14-10 and we're rolling.

Favorite point in the game was after the Diarse TD, the camera is showing the crowd celebrating and an empty beer cup floats up into the frame and then falls back down.

Agree, but not sure about "blowing out" Wisconsin - some coach on the LSU sideline seems to stick with a single Offensive game plan for a bit too long.

I totally agree. I re-watched the game, mainly the second half. This team has the potential to be great.
