Not saying I can't see it happening. I've just been hearing 9-3 a lot. It sounds like people are just throwing out a number.

I just want someone to explain WHO exactly will we lose to and WHY exactly we will lose if we end up going 9-3.

I personally think 10-2 or 11-1 is honestly a realistic number.

I could see it happening. But I also could see this team having the potential to win them all.

I could see 3 losses pretty easily.

It all just depends on how the QB situation turns out and how much the defense improves from last year

its not an absurd notion with the West being as strong as it is

I don't think we will but I could see it happening.. The offense is young. We'll be very competitive

At least 3 losses this season, I think. Too many new guys on both sides of the ball. More than anything, teams with remedial QB play don't win big in this conference very often. Add in the new faces at WR and 8-4 looks likely. I won't be disappointed, though, considering how young this team is. Next year should be much better. We'll see...

9-3 would be my bet if had to make one. At Auburn, at FL, Bama, Ole Miss, and even at AR the week after Bama could be the classic trap game. 3 losses out of that wouldn't be crazy.

9-3 is a reasonable expectation this year. I think we'll be competitive in every game, however. Anything's possible.

How can we lose 3 games?

Let's analyze the nine games that will be "competitive" games and assign a percentage chance that LSU will win:

60% . . #14 Wisconsin
80% . . Mississippi St
55% . . @ #6 Auburn
60% . . @ Florida
95% . . Kentucky
70% . . #18 Ole Miss
40% . . #2 Alabama
90% . . Arkansas
75% . . #21 Texas A&M

I'm just spitballing with the numbers. But if, for the sake of argument, we say the percentages are right, then we lose 2.75 games of the nine listed. That's spittin' distance from three games.

Better to set the bar for success than hear the tards complain we underachieved.

I think we lose 3 or 4:

Very likely losses:

Auburn - Miles has never beaten AU on the plains if AU is anything more than the worst team in the SEC. They figure to be at least "good" this year, so it's a likely defeat.

Alabama - They have more talent and a better program. We can beat them, but those two factors suggest that expecting to win is illogical.

Another one or two losses out of the following:

Ole Miss - Miles always struggles with OM in Tiger Stadium, so a loss is a possibility and OM has better talent than usual.

Wisconsin - They have less talent than LSU, but they are a strong program that has enough to beat us. I think LSU wins, but an opening game with a green QB suggests a loss is possible. My confidence in winning is buoyed by Miles' record in regular season non-conference games.

Florida - Tough to beat UF in the Swamp and they have more than enough talent to rebound from their putrid season in '13.

Arkansas - For whatever reason, Miles often struggles against Arkansas as well. I expect a win here, but who knows with Les vs Arkansas.

Freshman QB will lose two games in the SEC...

I see 9-3 with win 10 coming in the bowl.

Next year is the year.
