I do work for LSU. I don't think there's much I can do, but I can at least spread the word around work. Maybe voice my displeasure to some board members if I happen to see any...

I get it now. The big box the expansion created is really just a giant community storage unit for tailgate supplies.

I love it!

They changed our lot from $40 to permit only ($100/game) and that's what killed our tailgate. 14 years of tradition down the shitter thanks to Alleva. I wish he would just grow a set of balls and admit he just wants to eliminate tailgating on campus.

I almost wish you were right. At least then it would't just be a big, white, ugly... wall.

LSU NEEDS an athletic director that actually went to LSU. Alleva is an outsider who just so happens to presiding over the most successful period of LSU athletics... So he is deemed a success by the powers that be. It just so happens that the majority of the SEC is experiencing some of its greatest success ever.

Wouldn't be an issue if only people who are actually going to the game would show up.

Half the people on campus are just there to tailgate, and they want to bitch about parking and traffic when they are the problem

im a season tix holder and imo the more the better , even if they are not going to the game ...

but to those that do just tailgate don't get pissed and expect to be able to not get blocked in....

last year ... a back and forth from last season
fat bitch..you need to move your god damned truck...

some guy ... no

fat bitch ... move that mother fricker now ...

fat bitch ... im getting the fricking cops a-hole ...

some guy .... idgaf

fat bitch with cop ... move the truck

some guy .... no

some guy .... I cant

In my defense, I only got hired on in June.

EDIT: Also before anyone says it, yes I got the sarcasm.

I'm skeptical of these new parking measures as well, but this is mind-numbingly fricking retarded if you actually are being serious.

I will take a shot at an explanation of why there is no parking on Burbank and Nicholson:

There will be no pedestrians wandering around in traffic and trying to cross the street. Or walking close to the lanes of traffic.

There will be no vehicles pulling off to the shoulder of the road (or back onto the roadway).

There will be no car doors opening into travel lanes.

It seems this rule is meant to greatly speed up traffic leaving the campus after the game (or after the third quarter).

It seems they are trying to get traffic to zip along at 50 mph instead of 20 mph.

But everyone is right. It will kill a lot of tailgating.

Never really understood why people setup along Nicholson with all the traffic, uneven and wet ground, and having to put out your gear every Wednesday. But to each his own.

This part of the plan seems logical.

quote:

Pedestrian Buffer Zone on Nicholson Dr. A pedestrian buffer zone will be created on Nicholson Drive for fans exiting Tiger Stadium heading west. Nicholson Drive between North Stadium and South Stadium Drive will have no post-game vehicular traffic. Traffic will be forced north and south at these streets with no cross traffic allowed. This operation will allow fans to cross Nicholson Drive without competing vehicular traffic as well as assisting with the contraflow process and the forced directional exit in the parking lots around the stadium. Click here to view the buffer zone and exit routes.

This. All anyone complains about is traffic traffic traffic. People leave the games at halftime because of traffic. People don't even go anymore because of traffic.

Imagine how much more effective contra flow down Nicholson will be when it's not lined with cars everywhere and people walking all around the traffic.

The tailgating down Nicholson isn't going to die. Too good of a location for it to just be empty. The people bitching about it may move but others will simply take their place.

Traffic flow is more important at this point than a small stretch of tailgating real estate.

You need think deeper. This will cause a ripple effect across campus. I am sure it was well intended but it was thought out.

as one that's been tailgating along the tracks for 10plus years this is really fu--ed up. most of this area is not owned by LSU but the state and railroad. I will call LSU to vent but it sounds like they just killed gameday for thousands.
