FIL got drawn to gator hunt Caddo Lake next month.

Does anyone have any tips on capturing these mythical beasts?

What you see on swamp people is fake.

Make sure you get a lot of practice hitting the quarter size kill shot!!
Make sure you jerk the line back and forth at least 15times before you shoot the gator. Then when you do, make sure it's in slow motion!

According to swamp people:

Set smelly bait
Pull up line
Make gator thrash for dramatic effect
Shoot
Pull in boat
profit

We use chicken quarters soaked in fish guts.. Pretty nasty crap, but the gators love it..

Also, a thick cajun accent must be developed quickly... and catch phrases.

We got picked for the first time last year. It not nearly as dramatic as swamp people. Keep something in the boat to keep them wet. We used old blanket and dumped water on them. You wanna keep that skin moist.

The worse it smells the more they'll love the bait. Don't go out there if you don't know what you're doing we don't want to have to make a thread about you in when you go. BTW, don't be like those people on Swamp Ppl or Gator Boys.

Do you know where some bigens are located?
We buy some big arse hooks & make us some treble hooks, ride around till we spot one & snag him
We also set some lines with bait

Get you a young boy, named after a man of the cloth, tie a rope around his waist, throw him in the swamp.

ya'll forgot the most important part of the hunt. You need to get 2 coonass women to haul the 1000 lb gator into the boat. What a crock of sh!!t. Try hauling 1/2 ton over the side of a boat by yourself or with 1 person and not sink that flat boat.

Big hooks work better than hanging baits high when it comes to reducing small gators caught.

we buy chicken 10 days to 2 weeks early and put in fridge. It will smell ripe.

don't set lines during a high pressure.

after killing them, shoot one extra time for good measure. Learned the hard way

22 with high velocity works well. 38 on 9 plus

let us know how u do and good luck
