So I just watched episode 1.....
Fantastic
Great feel to it. I love that time period, though. Owen will be very good in this role. They set up numerous story lines, and there was edgyness and anticipation in the first episode.
Spoilers below:
I wish we would have gotten more from Dr. Christensen. I feel like he would have been a very interesting character. Maybe we will get "memories" of him throughout the season, like him hooking Owen on the Coke.

I thought it was pretty meh TBH. Generic themes, generic characters - I've seen it all before. I may give it one more episode before cutting the cord (no pun intended).

Seemed like it was ER but set in another period.
Also getting tired of the forced racial story lines. Awesome black guy kept on a short leash by racist white man who needs some comeuppance. no pun intended.
They sold this show as something other than what we got in the premier.

This show is def coming on HBO this Saturday night. Method and Madness is the name of episode 1. This info is coming straight from my guide info on comcast channel 416.
Yeah they just showed the commercial for it as well on HBO.
I'll probably have to watch it on Couch Tuner or something to that effect afterward. I have no desire to pick up Cinemax for just one show.

Just watched, as someone who loves the time period and all things medical I was happily impressed.

Seems to me that just the first episode will be on HBO.

Yup.
I just did a search on the guide, and it only airs on Cinemax now. First episode was a tease.
Too bad.

According to Andy Greeneald on Grantland, Soderbergh approached HBO with this idea but he and Clive Owen only wanted to do one year. HBO told him they don't really invest in series unless they can have longer runs. But they are tying to transition Cinemax away from being Skinemax so they could put it on there. The show was shot in like 30 days and slated for the one season run on Cinemax.
However, now they've got Soderburgh and Owen to agree to season 2. My guess is that they eventually replay season 1 on HBO to hype season 2.

I'll agree with this. The teasers seemed to be offering something much more edgy than the standard medical drama except set back 100 years

Just watched the first episode. I loved it. I love Steven Soderbergh. Hope my stomach can make it through the season.

So what you're saying is it will be available on HBO go after the original airs? I loved the first episode but I don't have Cinemax...
