My neighbor just bought a drone

He had it hovering over my back yard yesterday afternoon while my wife and kids were swimming. I walked over there and told him if it flies over my yard again I'm shooting it down. He told me it's ok because he works for the sheriffs dept. He's a damn volunteer, basically a mall cop. Everybody else in the neighborhood would be happy if it was shot down. What kind of shite would I get in if I actually did it?

What are te penalties for shooting and destroying someone's property where you live?

you sound like a badass, bro

I am sure you will do nothing about this.

I would use as water hose to take it out. That way they can't accuse you of using a firearm inappropriately. There are no laws against spraying water.

Do you have some amateur anti-aircraft defenses in your back yard?

Blast it with the water hose.

You're fine. You own the air above your property. I think it is part of the castle doctrine. Shoot away
Side note... I am not a lawyer and really have no idea.

did he give a reason why he was flying it over your pool?

you sound reasonably trashy so shoot it down with your potato gun.

Why don't you call your local Sheriff's Office and tell them some perv is flying a drone over your pool while the kids are swimming. Ask if this is legal and what would happen if your shotgun accidentally discharged and happened to hit it while flying over your property.
Another possibilty is to hit that fricker with a wet nerf football. That should do the trick! (You're an OTer. I know you can hit a moving target with a football at 75 yards. One hovering over your swimming pool should be a cinch.)

What a normal and perfectly mature response

I look at that like a tree branch. All good while it's in their yard. Once it comes into my property I'm removing it however I deem necessary.

I wouldn't shoot a gun if you're in the city limits but I'm sure you can figure out another way to knock it down

Just shoot some frickin fireworks at it
