my gf has known him since they were kids and is shocked by it all. Said it doesn't fit character. Makes me very curious as to how you let it all slip away

You can't take a 200k check for payment of services and think you instantly have 200k of expendable income.
As someone who is a CPA that has worked for small companies and contractors especially, THIS THIS THIS. They think they can take a 60,000 Range Rover for the wife or a new 100,000 boat out the company. They have no clue what that actually means on the books

It is amazing how we on TD make fun of one demographic for doing this, but us honkeys do it on a way grander scale

Sometimes they come in with a good rep and flake on you though.

Yep they start off honest, small, growing. They make a few nice houses and get some nice checks then they ramp up spending on themselves then they commence screwing over subs and clients.

Any number of things could be happening here but none get this douchebag off the hook.

yeah, this thread is pretty hilarious. as if it's out of the realm of possibility that this dude got in over his head by spending on himself and started ripping people off.

If he's such a good guy, why didn't he get help when he was HALFWAY fricked? I mean, you have to realize at some point that you are in the hole, but it seems he continued to do what put him in that position in the first place. If he didn't do it on purpose, he's an idiot.

My dad had to clean up the finances of a private pharmacy that took in $2 million/yr. Said the woman kept almost zero records of what she made and her expenditures. Even had an old school register that didn't print tickets(this was ~2010). After fixing everything, the owner had a breakdown and my dad had to basically set her up to run her own business. Bought them new autonomous registers that kept records of everything so she didn't have to. Even had to get her setup with barcode scanners that logged inventory and told her when she was getting low on things. Some people are just dumb as a doorknob, but if you get help, it is very easy to fix things

He owns his own CPA firm, and he and his employees do this many times a year.

Yep. A good guy from a good family that's a POS thief.

Maybe his parents will step in make this all go away for him.

It's got to be well beyond some minor customer issues for him to be in jail.

But they needed that boat for the camp they were going to build for a customer.

Wonder if this asshat knows Mark Hinson, another jackleg that likes to leave homes unfinished and screw people over.

Sucks because they really gave it to him on a slow news day. I don't think this is nearly as bad as that dude said on the news. He's one of my friends and you won't find a harder working dude. Needed an accountant maybe. I know he supports his parents, wife and two babies. This is really unfortunate.

So, he potentially ruins others' financially risking their families' futures, but because he's a "hard worker" who supports his family the law, homeowners, and public should cut him slack.

WTF, brah. Guy over-extended himself through fraudulent behavior, but he's a good guy. If it walks like a duck.....

It's really unfortunate that this guy is scum of the earth. It's unfortunate that you would defend a piece of shite like this and say he is a "hard working dude". Hard working at fricking people over.

Agreed.

So if you steal with a checkbook it's "a simple accounting error" , but if you use a gun you're a thug pos.

IDC what his reasons are-he's a thief.
