What a lazy arse way to end a fantastically complicated story. I get the point and the message, but the last episode was a real let down. I thought after the Flashback Jacob and Man in Black episode that the ending had real potential. I was wrong. Also, why wasn't the Man in Black the good guy. That crazy bitch killed his mom and then his entire village. His actions were warranted. Jacob, on the other hand, was borderline retarded and just did as he was told by the crazy psycho woman.

The man in black grew up to be one of Al Swearengen's right hand men in Deadwood.
I really didn't care for the ending on the island either-however, the church scene was great. Lots of feels.

Here's what's disappointing about Lost.
I watched seasons 1-4 and then the first episode of season 5. Even with over half of the series under my belt, I barely have any fricking idea what you're talking about. The only reason why I know who Jacob is is because I saw an episode or two where they went to his house but he was invisible, which means I don't really know who he is.
The show Lost lost its cohesiveness midway through season 4. The beginning of season 5 was even worse, so I stopped it with the great memories I had of seasons 1 and 2.

The more I think about the entire story, the more holes I find. Lazy.

I honestly don't see how anyone could hate the end. It was beautiful and a perfect way to end it. The last 10 minutes were perfection.

even the greatest shows have people who didn't like it.

If your invested in the characters I think you'll find it very satisfying. If your invested in the mysteries I think you'll believe you've wasted your time.

Lost is fantastic. The ending was the correct one.
With that said, the flip flop between the MiB and Jacob (as far as motivating factors for the characters) WAS an issue in the story.

Agreed. Obviously not everyone has to like it or is going to, but if you cared at all about the characters (which by the end was hard not to), then the end should've been great.

This was probably my problem.

One of Jack's quotes from season 1
"either live/after live together or die alone"

The writing was lazy because they began great arcs, only to end them with "everyone is dead and happy". For the people not in the church, "we don't give a frick".
