Is majora's mask a difficult game ?

about to finish OOT and was thinking about giving this a shot. Never had much trouble with OOT but I know MM is different.
Im going to avoid using any guides for my first play through. Am I going to be running around in circles or is the game pretty straight forward ?

Like any Zelda game it has difficult moments, but I wouldn't call it a difficult game.
Although, for everyone I know, there's always that one point in an adventure game where you have no idea where to go. That moment is different for everyone, but it affects everyone the same. "What the hell do I do bow!??!"

I'm replaying the game for the first time since my original play through as a kid and I find it incredibly difficult and frustrating.

Majora's mask was far and away easier than OOT. Except for the Stone temple. Even getting to it was a kick in the arse. But that's the only tough part.

Wut.
Maybe I've played Ocarina of Time too many times. I feel like it does a much better job of directing you than Majora's mask does

I feel like adventure games in the 90s were designed to boost sales of the $9.95 official strategy guides

It is difficult if you want to complete every mask challenge and not use a walk through.

hahah i never thought about it that way. I'm curious as to what Prima's financials look like today compared to then.

i agree with you Cock.
OoT never was that tough to figure out. Maybe the Water teample but thats it.
I remember being confused as shite with MM and never actually beating it.
Have yet to revisit either game though. Im afraid to revisit OoT because i hold it as the greatest game i have ever played (cut scene awakening as Adult Link was epic) but i dont wanna ruin my perfect memory of it

And only because the controls blew.

More difficult than OoT but not that difficult, IMO.

Majora's mask has only 4 dungeons and they are all fairly difficult. The last 2 are probably in the top 5 hardest Zelda dungeons from any game.
It's not a mind numbingly difficult game though and the side quests are really well done.
Use all the methods to maximize your time for everything.

I find it somewhat odd how y'all all have trouble with Majora's mask
That game was incredibly easy. Maybe it was just because I was a video game geek at 7 years old but idk it felt so much easier than ocarina of time. And it wasn't that ocarina of time was hard....it was just time consuming as hell.

It's annoying if anything. I like to pace not be rushed. Worst Zelda I've played bc of that one fact. Stupid fricking clock.

It's been so long since I've played OoT, but I do remember one dungeon that I ran around in for hours not being able to figure out what I was supposed to do next... I think you were inside of a fish/whale or something? Anyway, from what I recall, I was supposed to use the grappling hook thing to go up to a second level, but I didn't even know there was a second level, much less was I actively looking for a way up there. I think I had a similar issue in the forest dungeon too. Frustrating as hell wasting all that time checking every nook and cranny for something you missed
But with all that said, I've been really close to pulling the trigger on getting a Wii U for some good ole nostalgia with Zelda games

MM is much harder than OoT. The only easy temple is the first, and the others are hard as frick. Your first go through, you'll be hearing the bells of the world ending before you finish the temples (you'll understand what I mean later). Plus, it requires you to pay a lot of attention to minute details going on with the citizens that turn out to be vital later. The Stone Tower makes the Water Temple look like a cake walk.

No. Only the Water Temple is in the same league as the three later temples in MM, and that doesn't include the ridiculous number of side quests you have to complete and be at the exact place coincidentally at the exact same time it happening. MM is indies pitiably a more difficult game than Ocarina.
