4 Billion could build a fence.

With about 1500 miles of southern border, 4 billion should be able to build a fence. Works out to about $500 per foot. I think we could build a pretty good fence for $500 per foot. After that, don't need the $$$ to support other issues.

The Mexicans along the border sure will appreciate the scrap - because if you're intending to build a fence and just leave it, that's what it will be in under a week.
BTW - how tall is your fence? Do they not make ladders tall enough for it?

How much to man this fence? How many people would you need at the fence? One every 100 ft? One every 1000 ft? What about at places where it would be easiest to break through, would you focus resources there?
How tall is this fence? What is it made of? What do you do with the people that are caught? Drive them back onto the Mexico side and drive back? What happens when parts of the fence are cut through or broken down? Do we have a crew ready to go reinforce these areas?

The 4 Billion is a kick-back to lawyers, not a fence....

Why don't we go ahead and build a replica of the Great Wall of China? That way it can be a tourist attraction and the tourists can come and watch out for illegals. ![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/Icons/IconLOL.gif)

A fence would be divisive, racist and insensitive to all the poor down South. Immoral, as such.
We've got QE money to spare up here; all we need is the votes to endorse it.

We already have a shite ton of troops and border patrol agents on the border. Our government has made it impossible, often a fire-able offense, for them to do their job of keeping people out. Until you solve that problem, they're basically greeters. If you fix that problem AND build a fence, it gets much more manageable. Unmanned portions could be easily monitored via drones.

A true cost of 4B would end up being14T after it was managed by the federal government that you all continue to re-elect.

It's pretty obvious the Truck and Tuba have never been to the border before.

That'll do the job.
frick, let's dig a mote and fill it with sharks with laser beams attached to their heads.

I personally think a fence is a giant waste of money. They will find a way under or over or around it.
Spend 4 billion to find a way to cut off their supply to income, housing, and food. Easier said than done. But this, along with increased border patrolling, and some hardcore deporting will deter much more than a fence.

We can send John Snow and some rabble from Flea Bottom to man the wall!

A double fence end to end would cost $50 billion and be an economic stimulus.
Studies set the tax payer burden of illegals at somewhere around $115 billion per year.
Do the math and ask yourself why there is no fence.

Tell the illegals coming across the border, if they help build the fence, they will get to stay. That thing could be built for the cost of materials...

Ive asked this in all of these threads: why build a fence?
Drones directing border control would be a more effective allocation.

What about land seizure? How much will that cost?
