Nah, I've got an automated profession and time on my hands.

If I was a loser, I'd have seven handles, all with low post counts, and unique personas. I leave that to the veterans.

There's a guy here with a quarter million posts.

You, sir, are wrong. I use the same razor. I shave almost every day, and I can grow a thick beard. Each blade lasts 2-3 months without any noticeable wear and tear.

I have been using the same razor for two years. You can increase the life of the blade exponentially if you just dry it off after each use. I usually pat dry it with my towel then blow dry it with my wife's hair drier.

I'm a shower shaver (makes a world of difference!) but I may have to try this.. the towel part, not the blow dryer part.

Merkur 180 long-handled DE. I am currently using 7 a.m. blades that typically last a week before changing. Hell, got a 100 pack for $10...that is almost two years of shaving (for $10) for you math-inhibited folks. Add to that Prosaro shaving soap and Escali shaving brush...all equals an unmatched shave.

Well if you can make one razor last two plus years by taking a few seconds to pat it off with a dry towel, perhaps it's worth it. I usually change out my cartridge every month but for some reason the one I'm using now has lasted me 3. It is getting time to replace it though.

I have used Edge Gel for years. It's always seemed to really cut down on the nicks for me and helped keep razor burn in check. But recently I ran out and had to use an old can of Barbasol that I'd bought to help break in my little girl's tee-ball glove back in the spring. I was pleasantly surprised that it worked as well as Edge.I think I'm going to switch. It does just as good and does it for less than half the price.

I've seen that rollerball razor. How does it work? I figured it was maybe just a gimmick to charge more.

It gimmicky but I caught it on sale with 3 blades for like $9.

I don't think it shaves any better than the regular fusion razor.

Fusion and I first heard of it here on TD.

Lasts a couple weeks.

I will still use the Edge gel when I go on trips...much easier than bringing the whole thing. Not a bad shave, though...although I still prefer the Prosaro shaving soap over any of the canned stuff.

Better deal than the $ shave club. Handle and 10 cartridges for about $20, I bought one a month ago and have been very satisfied.

A Mach III cartridge will last about 1 - 1.5 wks before it starts getting dull and giving my razor burn. If a cartridge last you 3 months, then you have a baby face.

I also use the Gillette Fusion Pro-Glide. FWIW, get your refills off Ebay. I think I just got 12 refills for $25. Much cheaper than anywhere else

I use a Merkur Slant DE or an old DE I bought from an antique store that claims to be from the 20s. For blades I use Personna blades because they're sharp but not so sharp that they'll slice you like a Feather blade would.

Made the move to DE shaving about 3 years ago after I got tired of spending so much for replacement blades for my cheese-grinder-five-bladed Gillette. Friend of mine went to jail for a bit and that's how he picked up DE shaving, so I just copied him and haven't looked back.

I don't buy into the whole best shave of your life stuff, I think I get just as good a shave with either method, but the amount of money you save is ridiculous.

Merkur 38 DE

Gillette 7 O'Clock blades

I could probably get 2 weeks out of the blades (4 to 6 shaves), but I change every week because they're about 2 1/2 cents each. My blade is fairly coarse.

Back when I had to shave daily, I could get 2-3 weeks tops with a mach 3 before it was uncomfortable.

I use the proglide fusion too and I have used the blade (once a day) for three months. I have to shave daily and have no "peach fuzz". I have yet to find a better, longer lasting, blade than those.

I use the fusion. Each cartridge lasts about five to seven days for me.
