I don't get it either. I would rather just watch them than shoot them.

I don't get shooting this type of shite. Not my thing, but whatever. But shooting a zebra? That's like popping a cap in a Shetland pony.

very controlled management to make that work...and they don't have that.

It can be better if there wasn't so much blow back from activist. Most of the time the animal killed is chosen for management reasons, such as an older animal that won't contribute to the population anymore.

The Black Rhino is the only one on that list that is truly endangered. The rest are either vulnerable or not endangered at all.

I know the people that shoot these animals aren't eating them, but I hear zebra tastes really good. I don't know about the others.

If the US didn't have such a hate for horse slaughter we could be eating it's cousin regularly. I have heard donkey steaks are good according to Andrew Zimmern

the legitimate hunts are generally conducted on National Parks. The Park services closely monitor the animal populations there and a guide goes along on all hunts. generally they cull older animals that need to be taken out. It is a win win for everyone involved and generates a great deal of money for the parks to aid the wildlife there and prevent over population.

Of course now that I think about my buddy had a Shetland pony named Bozo and we would tie a string to his junk and have a rodeo competition to see who could ride the longest. You go to yanking that string and jostling his member that bastard would go ape shite. Maybe shooting an occasional Zebra is not too bad. Poor Bozo. Good times..

this. the legit hunting of african big game is a big plus to the conservation efforts over there. the herd loses an individual that's not aiding the population, and the guys running the parks get tens of thousands of dollars to help manage the breeding members of the herd and to help protect against poachers. i don't think there's anything wrong with it. they don't just throw out the carcasses, either. someone on that starving continent gets to eat the meat & the american takes the hide home. win win win.

I understand that but I don't really see the trophy aspect part of it. Someone mentioned how bad arse she was for taking a lion with a bow...probably had 3 or 4 people nearby with rifles waiting to take the lion out. I don't see it as sport.

I'm not PETA supporter, but some of those picks just make me kind of cringe. I just don't see a reason to do that. I'm not going to give anyone grief for doing it, but I couldn't do it myself.

yeah...I get that it is beneficial to the rancher and community, but even if I had the money, I would never be interested in this type of hunting.
